2023 Loosies: Jiraya Uai & MC Tarapi — "Hoje Tem Rodeio, Baile De Favela"
I think this is my song of 2023, is that allowed? I didn't hear it until Amnesty time at the Jukebox (where I gushed about it). I really do just love all of it so much, every little sonic element Jiraya Uai uses, every bit of stank MC Tarapi puts on the vocals, the whole thing. Feels like the musical equivalent of one of those movies where if you see any of it you wind up watching the whole thing, every time. I don't really know what's going on here, but picture me going "compels me, though" like Benoit Blanc. I have almost certainly listened to it one hundred times plus since December. I have yet to seek out anything else by either artist. Looks like Jiraya Uai has put out 13 tracks on YouTube since this one. Do I need to listen to any of them to say it? Probably my song of the year.
