FOCUS Binational Exhibition
Marissa Bennett, Allison Zau, Lulu Zhu American 1997, American 1998, American 1999 Untitled [Threads of Violence] 2016 acrylic paint, digital print, acrylic gel, wood
This past year has been focused on tracing external manifestations of violence for the most part. However, we found that violence has many threads that lead us back to our homes, becoming less of an abstract concept and more of a realized influence in our personal lives. Our piece includes three portraits of close family members who have survived political and domestic violence. We wanted to focus on the resilience and courage of the survivors over the more negative aspects. The painting over their portraits reflects how we perceived their stories.

Felix Blume Soundscape Preview-Ex Teresa
Felix Blume lets the TAG FOCUS participants preview his sound installation at the historical Ex Teresa. Here students learn the importance sound can have as an installation itself or in conjunction with visual works. The voices heard are of the people present at the Ex Teresa, such as the staff and custodians. They were invited to read texts regarding "SILENCE" written specifically about the Ex Teresa when it was still a church.
