Serenity and Break Time at the Glorious Four Seasons Wailea for Maui Classic Food and Wine
Well, now, y’all. This is what I NEEDED. Thank you, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, for bringing me and #DawnsDestinations into this #FSMauiClassic so early on that I knew this was coming up on the horizon - and, had something relaxing and indulgent to look forward to - past all the hard work...and, all the sleepless nights...and, all the hosting...and, producing...and, wrangling of personalities...and, pleasing of people...and, going to galas...and, primping pretty for parties. I know. It sounds fun - and, it is. It really, really is. But as “fun” as I am, I am also notorious for not having an off-switch. Work is fun is life - which means no off-days and no true vacations. When you love what you do - and, have crafted your life around what you do - sometimes, you’re the worst boss to yourself. As much as I preach self-cafe to my team and others, in the past 6 months, I have not been practicing self-care myself - aside from a nightly 15-minute bubble bath. I have not meditated or prayed. My workouts have been either all or nothing (nothing these last 3 weeks on location). I have comforted myself in the rare down minute with sugar and wine (no judgement there). And, I have been so busy that being still has not even been an option. And, yet I worked. And, worked. Making things that are actually hard appear very, very easy and effortless and elegant - thanks to the eye of our @DawnMcCoyMedia Associate Creative Director, @ElizabethObaker. And, got an average of 4 hours of sleep every night just so I could be HERE at the Four Seasons Maui Wine & Food Classic. In this cabana. In this beach chair. With @mauibabeinc browning lotion slathered on my body. A mai tai in my hand. A serentity pool and ocean in front of me. The man I love on my left. And, a month full of successes and challenges behind me. And, while I know I should check my email, I will not. Because this is the life I’ve crafted for myself and I deserve a break. As hard workers, dreaming the dream and having the courage to go after it, we all deserve a break. Whether it’s an afternoon spent at the pool. A book read in our favorite nook. A bubble bath or shower that lasts a *little* too long. A cup of tea while the baby is sleeping.
