BACK REACHES AGAINST THE COUCH, light hues focusing on the other woman’s. when she started her days as an intern, she had an entire different plan -- never did she think she would be a trauma surgeon. now... she could not imagine herself doing anything else. yet, sometimes, she wonders / what would have happened had april followed her plan? ❝ i wanted to be a peds surgeon, you know? ❞

IT WAS A BAD IDEA to listen to the advice of a junior a.d.a. she knew that going in. but she couldn’t spend her whole life getting in drunken fights with strangers just for kicks, could she ? trivia night would let her prove herself right in a more ... socially acceptable manner. except these trivia questions are complete bullshit and, you know what ? she shouldn’t be penalized for not watching crappy reality t.v. or knowing why jenny schecter is the worst. so she taps out of the competition ( or maybe her team voted her out, same difference ) and moves to the bar to order another whiskey. hazel eyes lock on the blonde next to her and for a moment she just admires her. lips tug into a smile. “ i may suck at finding the right answers to l word trivia, but i’ve definitely got a talent for finding the most beautiful woman in the bar. ”

“ i’m aware, ” her reply is short, terse, because she is beyond uncomfortable, leaning back in the gurney with her cane firmly grasped in her hand, “ i just need to get it set and — damn, i need to talk to the chief of surgery. ”
“woah, okay, i don’t think we need to talk to the chief of surgery for a broken ankle. it doesn’t need to be set back into place so you just need to keep it raised, rested and don’t strain it too much.” callie pressed her lips together, watching the patient carefully.

THERE’S BEEN ACCIDENT. it’s all she’s told, even after desperate measures of digging deeper into what had happened with her daughter. she could feel her chest caving inwards, her legs daring to give out beneath her. ❝ you don’t get to tell me what to do right now. where is my daughter ? ❞ her words her barely audible between tears, her mascara staining tanned cheeks a messy black shade. hands rest against the countertop of the station, feeling as if it’s structure was the only thing keeping her steady. so far, all she’d gotten was that sofia had been in an accident at school, and that it required immediate medical attention that the school nurse couldn’t provide. ❝ i swear on everything that is holy, if you don’t tell me where my daughter is, i’m going to rip you apart. just tell me. ❞ she’s yelling, her voice daring to break between every word spoken.
