Give your parks feedback

A community group is calling for residents to support and give feedback on a bid to expand and improve facilities in two Milngavie parks.

Milngavie Community Development Trust (MCDT) has been involved in a series of public consultations, including asking schoolchildren about local sporting facilities, to create ideas, debate and feedback about plans for Lennox and Oakburn parks.

Now the Trust wants as many people as possible to view an artist’s impression of how the local parks would look. A display has been mounted at the entrance to the new Fairtrade Café at Gavin’s Mill.

MCDT Chairperson Callum Christie says: “It’s great that the public get to have a look at these park designs at Gavin’s Mill. We would like to have the feedback of local people so we can then use this to show East Dunbartonshire Council what people really think.”

The Trust is especially keen on an idea to build a Community Food Growing Garden in Lennox Park. The garden would complement a Community Orchard that has recently gained funding.

Callum says: “A Community Food Growing Space could help teach school kids about growing vegetables and fruit and could be used for therapeutic purposes for those with disabilities and their carers. The area would also contain growing beds for local people who want their own growing space, similar to a private allotment.

“We need as many people as possible to look at this display and to leave their feedback and let us know if they would like to be actively involved in the project.”
