The cave-esque structure was frigid and damp. Beads of liquid rolled down the walls and dripped on the rock at her feet. Not quite water, tinged a soft shade of pink and sweet smelling as it invaded her senses. The lights flickered, then winked out of existence. The lanterns that just moments ago she had to duck beneath, were gone entirely. She was prepared. More so prepared to relight them than anything else, but in place of that she simply held a flaming arrow for a few brief moments before it ran out of accelerant and faded out. But in the glow it had cast, she saw what she had been looking for, a small bag a npc claimed to have lost while exploring. She scooped it up, the blood of the beasts she had just defeated mixing with the mysterious liquid within the cave, as she looked up. She had expected her collection of the item to reignite the lanterns, but when had anything in Velia ever been easy? As she put a hand on the wall to find her way back, her hand started to burn, and her HP crept lower. She kept moving. Once the light from outside filtered through the caves opening, she sped up. Confident, but not out of the woods yet. A figure stood between her and the outside, and there was no way of knowing whether they were a threat or not. She kept her bow aimed at them, arrow drawn back. “It’ll respawn in a few minutes. You won’t.” There was always the possibility that she could be the one to die, but she decided not to say that, in case that was exactly what the other player was hoping for.
