Here is what I think would happen if the Mcog fam played various card or board games

Playing uno….

Esteban: wins all the time

Mendoza: loses all the time. Hates the game

Tao: gets mad cause he can’t play a strategy game

Zia: forgets the rules

Pedro: thinks they’re playing poker

Sancho: surprised whenever he loses

Playing chess….

Esteban: takes 5 hours to make one move

Mendoza: always wins

Zia: falls asleep, has never finished a game

Tao: memorized a bunch of chess moves, is here to win

Pedro: thinks they’re playing checkers

Sancho: likes to play with the little horse

Playing monopoly…

Esteban: gets angry if he can’t have the a tiny car

Zia: strategy is just to buy as much houses as she can

Mendoza: makes everyone go bankrupt, takes loans from others with insane interest rates, stopped following the rules hours ago

Tao: is the banker, argues with people not following the rules

Sancho; falls asleep cause it takes hours to finish a game

Pedro: ends up bankrupt, spends whole game in jail

Family night

Some Mcog headcanons for yall: what movie would they pick for family night???

Esteban : He chooses Mamma Mia! and everyone gets ABBA songs stuck in their heads for weeks. Zia is stuck on “our last summer”. Tao has “lay all your love on me”. Pedro won’t stop yelling “the winner takes it all”. Mendoza was found absentmindedly humming “money money money” etc

Zia : When it’s Zia’s turn, she picks a Disney movie. At the start, no one really wants to watch it but they end up being way too invested. It probably leaves everyone crying at the end. She might also pick stuff like Bridge to Terabithia or Labyrinth.

Tao : He chooses Star Trek. It ends up not being popular with the fam, which makes him really upset with them. He might also make them watch Doctor Who, which they appreciate a little more.

Mendoza : He is banned from picking movies for movie night cause one time he put Oppenheimer and everyone was so angry at how boring it was. After apologizing, they grant him one last chance at picking a good movie. He chooses a documentary and they banned him again.

Pedro : he picks the Pirates of the Caribbean. Mendoza thinks it’s historically inaccurate. Pedro swears it’s all real and he knows Jack Sparrow personally. He also makes them watch The Road to el Dorado. They had a long post movie debrief after that one.

Sancho : I think he’d rather put a sitcom instead of a movie. So they binge a few episodes of Friends or Modern Family instead. Everyone gets hooked either way.

Gaspard : He makes them watch Fast and Furious and Mendoza falls asleep. The kids seemed to like it. I guess the family part got to them. He’d also get really excited to show them Die Hard.

Isabella : She makes them watch horror movies, only because she wants to see who’ll get scared. Everyone gets mad at her cause now they can’t sleep. But if she’s feeling nice, she’ll put on the Matrix or something.

Athanaos : idk why but he really likes Night at the Museum for some reason. And knows wayyy too much about Star Wars.

How i think every (yes, EVERY) Mcog duo bonds:

Esteban and Zia: They do an activity together. They go on picnics. They paint. They swim. They play a new sport together. They go from one thing to another, never stopping, always trying something new

Esteban and Tao: Tao mostly teaches him stuff, cause he loves explaining things to people. He probably teaches him Atlantean, and then stuff about Muan culture. And Esteban ends up getting really interested

Zia and Tao: They talk. They stay up late, for hours, just talking and talking. That’s what I do with my sisters when we don’t have to wake up early. Talking and talking and laughing. Usually, Zia ends up laughing the most and the loudest

Mendoza and Esteban: Esteban just lowkey follows him around everywhere, begging him to tell him a cool story about previous adventures. Unlike Pedro and sancho, Mendoza doesn’t embellish stories with extravagant details that didn’t happen. He just tells it as realistically as possible. And sometimes that’s a lot more cool than listening to a fun made up story

Mendoza and Zia: They enjoy each other’s company in silence. Sometimes Mendoza likes to be alone, or at least be somewhere quiet. And Zia understands that, and sits with him. They like to just breathe and absorb their surroundings. Zia likes having with Tao and Esteban, but sometimes it’s nice to just relax and not do much

Mendoza and Tao: Tao loves talking about science and exchanging ideas with others, which is something he used to do with Ambrosius. Now that he’s gone, he’s kinda got no one to talk to. Good thing Mendoza is here. Sure he’s not really a scientist, but he’s knowledgeable on a lot of things, like astronomy, and the two are able to have lots of interesting conversations about it

Pedro and Sancho: well we know they spend every second of their waking lives together, but I think their most favourite activity ends up being fishing. They’re really bad at it. But they like to challenge the other in a fishing contest

Mendoza and Pedro: Yeah so they go commit petty crimes together. Even though they’re “good guys” now, they still miss the high of doing illegal stuff. So every so often Mendoza is like “hey do you wanna rob this guy” and Pedro’s like “whatever, sure”. Do they get arrested. Yes. But escaping jail is even more fun then getting in in the first place

Mendoza and Sancho: whenever the team is staying in a new place for some time and they need to restock on supplies for the condor, they go shopping together. Idk it’s just their thing. Mendoza’s got the money and Sancho tells him what they need to get

Pedro and Esteban: they pretend to fight each other. With wooden swords or just plain wrestling. They’re not very good at it but it’s very fun. Esteban wins mostly cause Pedro is too confident. They also have a lot of inside jokes that everyone else is tired of

Pedro and Zia: whenever a new episode of a show comes out, one that they’re interested in, they have a watch party together, full with snacks and everything. Then they have an obligatory post episode debrief and prediction session

Pedro and Tao: ultimate therapy session. Tao often goes to him when he wants to complain about something (or someone). Pedro is there to listen and give him advice better than a therapist could. He’s just a lot more chill and laid back and Tao lowkey wishes he could be like that sometimes, to be less of an over thinker

Sancho and Esteban: they’re both bad at singing but for some reason, they’re the most excited when it’s karaoke night. They get half the lyrics wrong, they’re out of sync, but they ARE having a lot of fun so it balances out

Sancho and Zia: they’d have tea parties. Sancho likes the food and Zia likes the company and the fake gossip. It’s perfect

Sancho and Tao: I like how in season 1 you can see Sancho really looks after Zia and Esteban on the Esperanza, like a mom. For example, he brings them their food, and also tells Esteban to be careful when he’s playing on the ship. So what I’m saying is. When Tao is busy working on his latest invention, Sancho comes in with some freshly cut up fruit, like a mom. Tao is like “ugh no I’m busy” but he eats it anyway

BONUS:

Isabella and Mendoza: fighting. Not just sword fighting, but arguing. A lot of arguing. And shouting. But they really enjoy it, for some reason

Isabella and Gaspard: They go to the gym together. Yeah that’s it. They for sure helped each other create their workout routines

Mendoza and Gaspard: rage bait each other and make their lives a living hell. And they have fun doing it

Gaspard and Gomez: uhhh smoke break because yeah that’s cool

Post season 4 headcanons

Immediately after the show ends, Esteban and Zia go off to that weird dimension with the naacals and the cities

Meanwhile, Tao, Mendoza, Isabella and Gaspar get ready to leave for Patala. They say their goodbyes to Pedro and sancho, who stay in Zimbabwe.

Obviously they take the condor, but Tao has never driven it before (no one has. I mean Mendoza did once, in season 1, but he immediately crashed it, so…). It takes some time getting used to (Tao almost crashes into the wall. Again), but they make it in one piece.

When they arrive in Patala, Tao announces his idea of building the new order of the condor in the raja’s palace, who likes the idea (although the last time he let a scientist conduct his research it ended badly, he trusts Tao and his friends cause they saved him and his village from said scientist). Furthermore, Tao plans to make the order like a sort of hub for scientific research and knowledge. He also wants to share the knowledge of Mu with the rest of the world (cause what’s the point in having so much advanced scientific knowledge if you can’t use it?). And of course, he wants the world to appreciate and respect his ancestors just like he does, and make sure the knowledge is used for good.

Mendoza and Isabella are 100% behind his project (even Gaspar helps, not cause he wants to, but Isabella kinda forces him so yeah)

Once Esteban and Zia are finished running around the 7 cities and chatting with the naacals, they go to Patala to join Tao, who’s extremely happy to see them, obviously.

And so, slowly but surely, they begin establishing the order of the condor and blabla.

Tao remembers the old order of the hourglass, and how its basically been defunded by the king. And so, he offers Athanaos and Nostradamus to come continue their studies in Patala. Athanaos immediately accepts cause 1) he likes it there and 2) he gets to be with Esteban (finally, it was long overdue). Nostradamus on the other hand, doesn’t really wanna go cause he’s lived at chambord for so long, it’s hard to just leave everything behind. But once Tao tells him about his plans for a huge observatory, he immediately packs his shit and joins him

So yeah the rest of this is just slice of life moments of everybody chilling in Patala and of course setting up the order of the condor

Unfortunately not everything can be cute and fluffy. Because uhhhhh. Ambrosius is still out there. And he’s got a flying machine with like,,, lasers and stuff? And he’s like immortal now?? Or at least very hard to kill. So yeah we don’t get to relax just yet

Isabella and Mendoza essentially decide they have to figure out where tf Ambrosius is, if he’s planning anything and how to stop him. They’re even more worried cause they know how much Ambrosius wants to have tao at his side, and that now he’ll really stop at nothing cause he’s lowkey immortal (fun fact: the name Ambrosius means immortal).

And soooo they get a ship. Just like they wanted. And of course Gaspar just has to come cause 1) I love their trio and 2) they need all the help they can get

So yeah they periodically go on missions and stuff but they always come back home (to the kids in Patala)

Meanwhile, Pedro and sancho are in Zimbabwe and set up their tavern just like they wanted. Pedro gets married to Nyamita and maybe they’ll have a kid soon, maybe? (Fun fact: I didn’t like their relationship at first but it grew on me and I think they’re cute)

Back in Patala, Mendoza obviously misses his old friends, even though he doesnt say it. I mean, sure he’s really happy and proud of them for starting a new and healthy chapter in their lives, but they are his first and dearest friends. Zia immediately realizes that he’s upset, and the kids offer to periodically fly him to Zimbabwe to see them (and the kids obviously wanna see them too! They’re the kids’ uncles after all!)

And I can just imagine like. One day, they receive a message from Zimbabwe that Pedro and Nyamita are soon having a baby and they all cram into the condor, fly to Zimbabwe to see them 😭

Esteban, Zia and Tao are super excited about having a cousin. Pedro is freaking out cause he never imagined he’d be a dad one day. sure, he wanted to but now it’s actually happening and he doesn’t know if it’s all gonna work out. Esteban, Zia and Tao reassure him that he’ll be great, since he’s already so good with kids. And of course, Mendoza couldn’t be happier for his friend

Here’s what I think Mcog characters handwriting looks like but I describe instead of drawing it and I actually explain my reasoning:

Esteban: so he grew up in a monastery. Most of the reading and writing he’ll be doing Will be related to religious texts, which are transcribed by hand by monks. Although the printing press had been invented by then, its not like everyone’s got one at home. And also he’s still a kid but I think his handwriting would look like theirs. So I guess cursive and fancy

Zia: so incans actually didn’t write down info like we do, and instead used quipus. So technically she shouldn’t know how to write. In Spain, she learned to speak the language but I don’t think they would’ve taught her to read and write. She was basically a slave. So yeah no way she can write in Roman script. But if she did learn eventually, I think Esteban would be the one to teach her. So her writing would look like his a bit. But she’d try to make it look nice at least

Tao: So Tao doesn’t know any European languages. He reads in muan, which isn’t at all like Roman script. He had to teach himself basically everything so I think his writing would be messy. He’s also an engineer, and everything he writes down is for his eyes only. Basically his writing is ILLEGIBLE to anyone other than himself

Mendoza: okay so he’s from Spain and clearly has some sort of education that goes beyond basics. He’s probably had to read various astronomical and scientific texts. Probably philosophical ones too since the ideal renaissance man was well versed in every subject. I think his writing would be hard to read, like Tao’s. Cause it would be for work purposes. Like when he’s writing down stuff useful for sailing and info about where they’re going. My guy is writing in the dark on a moving ship, it’s not gonna be legible. I also think it’s fancy and cursive like we see in those old documents

Pedro and sancho: So we know that they do have some level of education cause they’re able to count to high numbers. But they’re still sailors. So they’re not super smart either. In fact they’re below average. Their writing is at kindergarten level probably. Not cursive. Messy. Lots of grammatical errors

Isabella: so she’s super rich. She’s probably had to study a lot of stuff in different fields (if her mastery of 3 different weapons wasn’t clear enough). So I think she’d have super clear, pretty writing. Not that she cares how it looks. That’s just how she learned it

I haven't seen many mcog headcanons, so here are some of mine (just the 3 kids for now, I'll do the other characters later)

Esteban:

- never really got over his fear of heights, despite his friends trying to help him

- really loves ABBA

- can't cook cause he can't follow instructions

- a dog person

- sleeps late, wakes up early, naps during the day

- loves fruit drinks, punch, etc. I think he'd like mango lassi

- pinky promises for everything

- learned to swim while on the Esperanza (Mendoza threw him off board to teach him, he never forgave him for that, despite Mendoza insisting it was pretty funny at the time)

- loves old timey video games

- loves trying new sports, despite being bad at them

- took his first steps aboard the Trinidad

- also said his first words on the Trinidad (it was "mama" cause that's what most babies say first. Unfortunately, his mother wasn't present, but Mendoza was. The other sailors on board thought it was funny to hear the baby call Mendoza “mama". Mendoza, on the other hand, did not find it funny)

- This is a headcanon l've seen before but I love it so: he was named by Mendoza

- loves pulling pranks on his friends

- can only sleep if it's dead silent

- when it's his turn to pick a movie for them to watch, he puts stuff like high school musical

Zia:

- probably claustrophobic

- loves holding hands with like, everybody

- Esteban taught her to swim (during season 1)

- loves to go hiking with Tao (Esteban doesn't join, he's scared of heights)

- loves classic Disney movies

- learns to knit and makes everyone sweaters

- gets into tarot cards

- likes ice caps with whipped cream

- plays with her hair when nervous

- Great at lying but hates having to lie

- would be great at badminton

- probably takes care of a snake at some point

- likes to gossip with spiders

- gets really close with Isabella cause they're like, the only girls in the story 😭

- allergic to chocolate

- post season 4: she'll sometimes take the condor to visit maina and her other incan friends

- learns to play instruments really quickly

- prior to season 1, when she's working in the palace, she'd look out the window and see a young boy in blue robes running down the street. She wished she could be as free as him and wondered where he was rushing off to. To this day she still thinks about that kid and never found out that it was actually Esteban this whole time

Tao:

- probably autistic

- can do a backflip, which makes Esteban jealous. Can also do various gymnastic stunts

- made a super complicated secret handshake with Esteban (they forget it every so often, so they have to make a new one every time)

- teaches Zia everything about Muan history (they also create their own secret code to communicate with each other, for funsies)

- Is really good at chess

- builds random trinkets in his free time. Scribbles plans for inventions on any surface he can find

- can't sit still for long periods of time

- kinda wishes he had powers like his friends do, but then feels bad for feeling jealous

- if school was a thing, he'd be in a bunch of clubs and groups

- stays up really late, no one knows if he even goes to sleep at all

- drinks monster energy drinks to stay awake

- Esteban continuously teases him about the crushes he's had (Maïna, Zia and indali)

- since he was all alone on his island growing up, I'm assuming it must've been hard to get food, cause he's a kid, so he'd mostly have a vegetarian diet. I mean sure he'd eat meat every so often if he was able to catch it, but idk I don't think that's the primary source of his food. Makes sense cause he's small and skinny despite being the oldest kid

- likes making friends but has a lot of trouble with it

- loves Star Trek and Doctor who. It's his go to choice for movie night

Okay last part of my headcanons:

Isabella:

- loved playing hide and seek with her dad as a kid (she was always the one to hide, he was always the seeker. Over the years she got so good, he could never find her. Turns out, he just gave up looking for her)

- doesn't really like swimming, which sucks cause Mendoza loves to swim

- often gets into political debates with Gaspar and Mendoza, usually ends in one of them drawing their sword

- Only thing she drinks is black coffee, maybe like 120 cups a day, everyone's worried about it

- sleeps really really late

- bonds with Tao over their similar experiences with Ambrosius, ie: how they got screwed over by a guy they thought was their friend

- knows a bunch of languages cause she had a great education

- since she travelled the world with her dad and his friends (Ambrosius and Athanaos) I'm gonna go ahead and headcanon that she also saw Athanaos as like an uncle maybe. But if he's considerably younger than Ambrosius and Fernando (cause idk his age) she might have seen him as an older brother even

- always climbing stuff, like fences and walls. If they were in modern times you could find her chilling on top of the fridge. Also sits really weirdly

- expert lockpick

- hopes to master every weapon ever created (Mendoza tells her it's an unrealistic goal, she tells him to shut up)

- loves watching action movies. Also likes war movies. The more depressing the better. And also of course listens to true crime podcasts (gives her ideas on how to cover up her crimes)

- always has warm hands due to wearing her gloves (when she holds hands with Mendoza she’s surprised at how cold his are)

Gaspar:

- once he joins the team, he slowly gets along with Mendoza, and even sees him as a friend. Although he'd never admit it obviously

- even though she said she's not interested, he still gifts Isabella a dagger, cause ya know. They're besties now

- 100% dog person. Actually I'm pretty sure he would get a dog (one of those big dogs that are used to hunt, he wants it to attack Mendoza but it's much too nice to ever do that)

- never pays attention in convos and is constantly going "huh? What?"

- sometimes he can take things too literally

- Only drink he ever drinks is beer

- super competitive

- Ever since he became friends with Isabella, he just kinda became a feminist. Not cause she taught him anything, he just wanted to

- loves watching sports, soccer (or I guess football, since that's what they call it in Europe) is his fav

- loves going to the beach

- him and Isabella would go to the gym together. They're 100% gym bros don't deny it

- post season 4: I think he'd get close to the kids and be like, idk a weird fun uncle in a way. Like rataxes in babar

- always fighting with Mendoza over who's taller (it's Gaspar, but Mendoza will never believe it)

Gomez:

- hates being around people, only does it out of necessity, would rather be left alone

- probably became alcoholic in season 4

- despises incompetence (being on the Esperanza was tough for him, since everyone on that ship was kinda stupid; except for Mendoza, but he was just plain annoying so)

- I think that, if he smoked, he'd smoke a pipe (Like captain haddock in Tintin). And then Gaspar twould be cigars and Mendoza twould be cigarettes

- accepted to bring Zia to Pizarro cause prior to Mcog he was involved in a disastrously failed mission, which is why he's trying to recover and idk save his face. But obviously it doesn't work, and now he's really got nothing left so he puts all focus on gold

- probably played card games with Perez and Gaspar while on the Esperanza. Made the mistake of inviting Mendoza for a game, and lost more money than he'd like to admit (everyone knew Mendoza cheated, but no one can prove it)
