@howdycharlie requested number 17 (post-it note love letters) with Michael
It wasn’t unusual for you to wake up without your boyfriend, Michael, by your side. That didn’t mean you had to like it, it was just a fact of life you had to accept. This morning whenever you woke up, though, you couldn’t help but to remember the last conversations you had with him before sleep took both of you. He had told you so nonchalantly that he would be spending the majority of the day in the studio. To say you were unhappy about these circumstances was an understatement.
“What do you mean you’ll be at the studio for nine hours? Do you not know what tomorrow is?” You remembered yelling at him.
“Of course I remember. I’ve been in this relationship for just as long as you have!”
The day marked two and a half years that you and Michael had been dating. You moved into a new apartment together just before the two year mark and before he left for his second headlining world tour. He and his three bandmates were home for four days before they were set to perform four shows across Australia and finish the tour. You had been able to go to a few shows here and there throughout the tour, and you had to admit that you were excited to see the final four, especially in front of a home crowd, but you also had to admit you were still upset over the events from the night before.
Michael did promise, though, that he would take you out for your anniversary, but that was all you were allowed to know, or so you thought. After you rolled out of bed, you walked through your apartment to the kitchen. Sitting on the breakfast bar was a bouquet of roses, a mix of purple and peach. In the middle of the flowers, there was a note in handwriting you would know anywhere. The note read Purple = Romance (and your favourite), Peach = Gratitude, two things that I feel for you. Happy Anniversary along with a drawn heart, signed my Michael. This was the first of many notes you would find from him.
The second note you found while in the shower. You had had various bottles of body washes that you used for different reasons and occasions. One of the bottles had a note similar to the one in the flowers, this one reading Please use this while getting ready for date night. It may or may not be my favourite, a winking face drawn next to his name. There was a note on your closet door telling you exactly what to wear, on the box of macaroni you had for lunch that date, giving clues to where dinner would be held. This showed you that Michael was a lot more romantic than he would like to lead on and also that he paid a lot more attention than you thought. Date night, needless to say, wasn’t worth the fighting, but it was definitely worth the wait.
