Dear Mother,
The school year’s been rather pleasant so far. Yes, Archibald is still in my dormitory. Albus still isn’t rather fond of him. To tell you the truth, he isn’t on a list of my favorite people either. Oh! Albus truly appreciates the sweets you sent for him. He really loved the cinnamon chocolates you found. I’m not sure how you always manage to find the perfect gifts. I still haven’t had a chance to give Beatrice her present, whatever it is, though I’m sure she’ll find it lovely.
How are you and Father? I’m growing a bit uneasy, though I suppose no more than usual. It’s nothing to concern yourself over. Is Father handling the news well? I know I’m not trying to speak of unpleasant things over owl, Mother. I would just rest slightly easier if I knew both of you and Grandmother and Grandfather were all happy and healthy.
