Just finished watching McSkins
Not that the originals were particularly amazing actors (though Nicholas Hoult is quite talented and we all know what happened to Dev Patel), but man, Cadie/Cassie is a mess. The character's primary characteristic is "crazy," there is really not that much else going on for her. Is it supposed to make her seem weirder that she sounds totally normal but goes around slaughtering bunnies, or is the actress just not trying at all to deliver any sort of performance? Not even going to start in on the others, the Animal Collective scene, that Tabitha/Abigail looks physically incapable of hurling profanity-laden insults, and that you'd have to be on a desert island to get a group of like ten girls to gather around to ogle someone who looks like that.
Skins is inherently something that can never be legitimately good, just good for what it is. But to be good for what it is, it does need to be charming somehow, with actors who have some semblance of charisma and chemistry.
Also, now that Maxxie is a lesbian, it's just weird and uncomfortable that the two guys accompany her on the big gay night out. The sentiment is not so much that they're trying to be supportive of their friend, they just want to see girls make out.
