her professor couldn’t stop talking about it. he’d spoken at length about the mass suicides as if it were a wondrous phenomena occurring on the other side of the world. raven had stopped listening a third of the way in, focus secured on the notes she’d scribbled out in front of her, only for him to take a nosedive out of the window behind her. nothing was the same after.
chaos was joined by a stampede of screaming coeds, some her peers and some that seemingly appeared out of the woodwork, and she quickly grabbed her things to follow suit. she wasn’t aware of the extent of its spread, of the plague that had somehow finally made its way to them, but the sight that she was met with upon exiting her building soon changed that.
in an attempt to somehow shield herself from the death and destruction surrounding her, raven kept her eyes trained downward, hoping that the cracks in the sidewalk would somehow seem familiar. it wasn’t long before she was shoved out of the way by a panicked pedestrian, her body hitting the pavement with a thud as she fell face first and a slew of expletives tumbled out right behind her.
it takes a moment for her to sit back up but she still manages a quick “thanks, asshole!” while she’s seeing stars and trying to move out of the way of the riot coming her way. / @mcthersguilt
