my notes on each song from the new kmfdm album. as a true kmfdm fanatic
1. ENEMY - 2/10 - sounds like imagine dragons to me. not really good at all. lyrics are equally as corny
2. OUBLIETTE - 7/10 - i like this song a lot. not any complaints really. catchy
3. L’ETAT - 5/10 - listenable. its fine, i dont have an issue with it. just runs on a little too long
4. VAMPYR - 8.5/10 - this is great. lucias vocals are awesome like always. the guitar solo in the middle wasnt for me but otherwise i think this is fine.
5. YOÜ - 2/10 - who the hell is singing in this. im starting to understand the feel this album is going for but this song is just awful. i tried really hard to like it but i dont. sounds slightly ai generated.
6. OUTERNATIONAL INTERVENTION - 4/10 - this is an alright song i guess. the harmonizing sections and the parts where sascha is singing dont fit together. i honestly just wanted a strong hook of some sort which this song doesnt have.
7. A OKAY - 9.5/10 - lucia i love you….. this song is kinda cute and fun. almost feels a little like mindless self indulgence or maybe toxic lipstick. i like this more the i listen to it. i could not begin to tell you what this song is about but i like it
8. STRAY BULLET 2.0 - 1/10 - genuinely what were they thinking with this. stray bullet is an iconic song for a reason but this one feels like a really bad cover. this sounds nothing like kmfdm really. this feels blasphemous.
9. CATCH & KILL - 3/10 - sigh. this one is VERY slightly better than most of the others on enemy. it just doesnt feel like kmfdm really,,,,, this song keeps getting my hopes up and teasing me with the idea of a hook and then it just goes back to the same lackluster chorus. im getting tired of this album
10. GUN QUARTER SUE - 5/10 - compared to the rest of this album, this is a very good song. compared to the rest of kmfdms discography, this is just ok. holy shit is there no lyrics????? okay whatever. the song is well made. im kinda glad theres no lyrics actually im scared they wouldve ruined it
11. THE SECOND COMING - 4/10 - what? i mean its fine? it sounds exactly like a track that would be used as ambiance in a horror movie. i do not understand what im listening to. its not bad because,,, its barely anything at all,,, but like?? what??? the ending is genuinely insufferable actually im knocking this down a point just for that.
THATS IT??????? this album is so Not Good. heres my picks for worst and best:
BEST: A OKAY. barely even a question.
WORST: STRAY BULLET 2.0. i really wish this was a good song 💔💔
OVERALL ALBUM RATING: 4/10. it almost had enough tolerable songs to make up for the bad ones. this would definitely be a 1/10 if it werent for vampyr and a okay. the absolute best of this album would be the absolute worst of an album like nihil or symbols
