9.2.1 | WK 1-2 | Exigent | Strategy & Narrative + Infographic
In week one we focused on coming up with a strategy and a narrative for a brand. I choose Exigent, a gaming company. In the second week we created a infographic that tied together the strategy and narrative. I enjoyed researching the competitors, marketplace and target audience. It gave me a chance to delve into an industry I truly enjoy.
9.2.1 | WK 1-2 | Exigent | Strategy & Narrative + Infographic
In the third and fourth weeks, we created a mood board, dynamic mood board and an ePitch. I really had a fantastic time creating these elements which included animation, illustration, voiceovers, sound effects and music. I put my all into these projects. It gave me a chance to stretch my illustration skills. I wanted to bring that element into my thesis project because... what’s a MFA without the A... Art.
1. Researching for a game industry project
I got to dive into the world of games and do some heavy research on a field I enjoy. Maybe too much sometimes... LOL. I got to think about how I would launch a brand into that marketplace. With eSports, VR and Brand Stores coming into play so much these days... it was a perfect match.
2. Setting the mood for the Exigent brand
Wow... did I have a good time with this. Not only in the initial sketches and illustration but with the dynamic mood board as well. Bringing the dynamic mood board to life was a great time and brought me back to my early career and the energy I felt when working on multimedia projects. I really wanted to add illustration to my MFA thesis work and this was the perfect client and brand to do it with.
3. Working in Adobe After Effects and GarageBand
Again learning and growing in the technological side of design pushed me. I got into the groove of working on animations again... even if they were simple. Timing and syncing all of the sound effects, music and voiceover elements also was quite fun. I had a blast recording the voiceovers for the DMB... got to push my voice in a few directions. I also enjoyed scripting and recording the voiceover narration for the ePitch. I respect writers more and more everyday after going back to school.
