This is not really what you wanted for fellow readers to share but this is something I need to get off my chest. I think Mo Dao Zu Shi has ruined other romantic developments in books for me. I mean, call me a person from 18th century, but Lan Wangji's devotion for Wei Wuxian and the reciprocation of their affections are somethings that I will needlessly look out for in each and every dan novel I will read in the future and probably be disappointed time and again. Thank for letting me rant.

Anything about MDZS is absolutely more than welcome here! <3

AND I AGREE JFC let’s be real im pretty sure lwj made us all unintentionally set our bars higher in our romantic partners and im stressed bc how will our date respond to a “ok but if i die for 13 years, how often will you play the inquiry for me?” HAHAHAHA experiencing a masterpiece is a double edged sword - on one hand, it’s like breathing for the first time again and yet on the other, you end up comparing it to others like some ghost that haunts you even after you turned its last pages

I saw a mutual reblogging stuff about the donghua (which had 3 or 4 episodes at the time) and it looked promising enough, so I thought I should give it a try. THE THING IS, I thought "cultivation" meant "agriculture", so I thought this show was actually about. farmers who fought evil spirits for some reason.

HAHAHAHA I HAD NO IDEA WHAT “CULTIVATION” MEANT AS WELL!!!!! and ngl to this day im still not that sure how exactly ill explain it to someone who isn’t familiar with this genre whelp i just think of it as an upgraded “exorcist” and that’s how i go about in my explanations lol BUT OK PRETTY FARMERS SIGN ME TF UP

Ok so I started off reading the manga. Then found the website and learned they not only had a novel but a show to. I then knew a b was ruined. It’s awesome and I’m in love and have already planned to write to much fan fiction for it when I know I had so many Other fics to start writing, it’s just been piling up. Anyways that my story! Question, what do you think are the most pop ships for the other characters beside our main boys?

I saw WWX acting like a lunatic in episode 1 then LWJ and JC appeared and I knew it was at that moment that I was ruined hahaha Please do write fics for the fandom!!! I absolutely love fanfics and I’m forever thankful to those who share their works lol 

I remember seeing a post on the other popular ships but that was in the Chinese fandom (LWJ/WWX ofc topping the list then the rest were LXC/JC, LSZ/JL, XY/XXC, SL/XXC, JC/WWX, LXC/JGY, etc.) 

For us here in the English fandom and this is just based on my observations which basically means i have no statistics but im gonna talk about it anyway but pls dont trust me that much haha well naturally OUR WANGXIAN IS STILL WAAAY UP THERE. And I’m seeing a lot lf LSZ/JL and I guess LXC/JC as well given that the donghua showed more interaction for them. Another contender would also have to be JC/WWX but then again some are mixing shipping them romantically and just in a bromance sense (lol we’ll see where the tide takes us). I haven’t seen from the Yi City arc crew but when they finally get animated I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing the divide between XY/XXC and SL/XXC. Also, I haven’t seen it much yet BUT HELLO IM HERE TO INVITE YOU ALL TO MY 3ZUN TRASH CAN (JGY/LXC, NMJ/LXC, or gimme my dream 3some NMJ/LXC/JGY)

I thought that WWX was the evil sadistic seme type for while researching about MDZS but then I read the first chapter and was like ‘wow this guy is an actual dork lol so cute hes my son now’ (i also thought jc was his love interest) 3. I ship XXC with XY ok IM SORRY 4. Yiling Laozu is my kink. that is all.

Okay so, i literally started watching MDZS like, THIS WEEK? I think i found a gifset here on tumblr and just went, wow are they pretty. So i started watching the donghua and reading the manhua, then i found out that there was an on-going translation of the novel and i just got sucked into this beautiful world! But now i'm kinda stuck in that zone where i'm still looking for other fans, since i cant seem to find many on twitter and no one of my friends knows the novel TT

(1/3) 1. My friend msged me on facebook and was like: watch this, it’s amazing and GAY 2. Because of the way it was described to me, I was expecting it to be more lighthearted? idk I guess kinda shoujo-ish? I definitely wasn’t expecting the detective/mystery/action parts (heh parts) and I *definitely* wasn’t expecting it to be so incredibly *painful* yet so good at the same time 3. Unpopular opinion… well no one talks about this so I guess that counts as “unpopular”: Jiang Fengmian is a DILF

I love how it’s the “GAY” part that sold it bc had it been me then SAME and well tbf it’s the donghua’s fault MDZS became an angst train since unlike the novel, they bombarded us with the flashbacks for the entirety of this season but I also guess it’s kinda okay too given that the donghua would have a different life than that of the novel. I CAUGHT THAT PARTS PUN

So when I got back to murica i searched everywhere for it uwu and now it’s taken over my whole mcfucking lifeee and I’m reading the novel and it’s beautiful and sO gay Unpopular opinion Jin ZiXuan is the prettiest boi I’ve ever seen

Jin Zixuan is that classmate you had in High School that you hated for being a douche and ends up redeeming himself on your batch reunion years later tbh I remember being so pissed at him for badmouthing JYL even though he never got to know her yet and I was even thinking “lol did this idiot just say that infront of my yunmengjiang duo???” AND NOW WE HAVE “MAIDEN JIANG IT WAS ME! IT WAS ME WHO WANTED YOU TO COME!” pretty sure i joined the characters’ reaction of “...” that time hahahahaha Jin Ling got so much from his dad and I’m still laughing about it haha

“1. of how you started mo dao zu shi!!! So technically I was first introduced to MDZS in February by someone on a Ling Qi forum. I struggled through half the first chapter and gave up because holy fuck there is a big difference between the language used in a novel and that in manhua. In May, a few of my USA friends got into the fandom and I decided to try again. Slightly less struggling this time, and I managed to get through it with the help of my mom and a dictionary. (fun things to do: ask your parents what certain words mean without letting on you’re reading danmei) 2. and/or what were some of your first misconceptions when you read/watched it?? ngl I thought it was gonna have annoying gong/shou dynamics and tropes, but it defied my expectations. Also, the first time I got to the end, I thought it was horrifically dubcon. Turns out it’s just their kink 3. and/or reveal an unpopular opinion you have They don’t *actually* fuck everyday, right?? I fear for Wei Wuxian’s ass. 4. and/or rant about your favorite character, scene, ship or even your hated stuff in the novel/donghua/manhua Lan Sizhui is extremely fluffy and I wish him best of luck on his adventures with Wen Ning. Lmaaao i remember just coming back from vacation in February and still not knowing this masterpiece existed hahaha Okay like this is the second time I heard “Ling Qi” what is it?? forgive my ignorance whelp And I feel you on almost dropping it bc I couldn’t understand their way of speech in the beginning and don’t even get me started on their names wiw and ok gong/shou is like the seme/uke and top/bottom terms in Chinese BL right?? AND OMG WITH THE AMOUNT OF ART OF WWX BEING TIED UP I’M NOT SURPRISED WITH YOUR WORRY HAHAHAHA and actually they do~but then again it’s almost 95% always wwx’s fault im betting and sshhh in their world, we’re gonna assume they heal easily to justify the proverb of lan wangji’s “everyday is everyday” lmaaao *slams fist on the table* THE PURE WENS MUST BE PROTECTED TO BE HAPPY FOREVER
