Me, Moth by Amber McBride

This book is undeniably beautiful. The final twist, Moth's story, it's painfully beautiful. It will make you cry. It's really sad but it's so real. I love it. Moth is bisexual but it's not mentioned more than once. It's written as several poems and it's gorgeous.

Me (Moth) by Amber McBride

A story in verse is one that is hard to love, as so much goes unspoken. We don't actually know who the characters are-- in favor of knowing what the core of them is. I lacked the cultural touchstones to get some of the poems individually, but taken alongside the others, they still were able to get me to relate to the emotions going on.

Sometimes, you are holding on to something so tightly that the only choice is to learn how to let go.

Currently reading the novel in verse Me, Moth by Amber McBride & these are some of my favorite lines so far:

The choreography is choppy water

Instead of wind blowing

through a field of wheat

or graveyard ancestors kissing cheeks.

The song choice is fork scrapped over granite

instead of

hands displacing soft dirt.

In my mind I dance over them, the (flawless

butterflies)

with my green snake hair.

I stomp them each out like cigarette butts &

stare all the

men to stone.
