Mearan: That is not how you use that.

Phi: I’m thinking critically! You know, all the things they told you not to do at the academy.

Mearan: That is not the intended function.

Phi: I’m improving it!

Mearan: This seems unwise.

Phi: It’ll be fine!

Mearan: Why do you insist on knocking things over.

Phi: I uh-no.

Phi: Did you just...?

Mearan: ... I improved it.

Phi: See, I knew there was a creative thinker in you.

15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?

Phi awoke during the Cycle of Night and feels quite at home in the nocturnal world with all of its bumps and spooks.

Mearan rises before the sun in order to greet it with morning exercises. While he has come to appreciate the beauty of a quiet night, he’s more of a morning and daylight kind of guy as he will always be a Noon at heart.

14.)  How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?

Phi does not react much to changes in temperature so much as humidity. He does poorly in arid climates. He prefers moderate to cold weather. When it’s below a certain temperature, his body will react by producing glow regardless of the ambient light around him. The chemical reaction that produces the glow also produces heat as a byproduct to keep his sap flow at an optimal level.

Mearan doesn’t like the cold, but he has learned to tolerate it. In extremely cold weather, however, he will have difficulty moving and run out of energy quicker; his glow-heat lamp process is not as efficient as Phi’s. Conversely, he does better in extremely hot, arid climates.

13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?

Phi, when he sleeps in his bed, tends to curl up in a little ball in the very center of his bed crushing a pillow or equally soft stuffed animal for comfort. Usually he has the covers pulled up over his head as well.

However, Phi frequently finds himself in Elric’s bed. By morning Phi has usually snuggled up to Elric and/or listening to his heartbeat. Phi is also a notorious blanket thief who will only give back share if he is being snuggled. Overall he sleeps better and more peacefully when sharing a bed.

Mearan tends to sleep on his back, or in a corner propped up against the wall. His sleep is rarely peaceful, but things have gotten better. He tends to sleep on top of covers or with no bedding at all. At his cottage near the Weeping Isle, he has an outdoor hammock that he’ll sometimes sleep in for a few hours.

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?

Phi is quite savvy with asuran technology thanks to his Order and sister Rhionna/Dhyssi. As a quick study he tends to learn by mimicking, particularly when it comes to dissecting charr technology. When it comes to correspondances, he’s partial to letter writing for the tactile feel. When conversing with someone over the comms there’s probably a 50/50 chance he’ll get distracted by his surroundings. More than once he’s carried out a conversation while polishing his skull collection. Waypoints and gate travel make him feel sick. He suffers through it really because he knows no other approach.

Mearan is not overly fond of technology even if he will exploit it to his advantage. He favors charr technology due it’s non-magic base resulting in less “interference” as he calls it. He dislikes using asuran instant travel immensely. There are times when he will stare at the waypoint as if waiting for someone to arrive. He’s aware it’s irrational, but an itty bitty part of him hopes that those coin-sucking technodemonic devices will someday materialize a long lost loved one or two by mistake. While he seldom writes he finds it preferable to the invasive instant communicators that are all the rage these days.

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?

Phi is represented by a little, wooly, black lamb with tiny nub horns of crystallized moonbeams.

Mearan is primarily represented by a large ram with a fleece of tarnished gold. He has also been represented as a krait, for his darkest urges, and a mockingbird, for what little wonder and hope he still holds.

10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable. 

Phi has a few. The highlights are probably joining his Order, meeting Vailynt, Keiranon, and Sadrienne; Phineas confessing his love, Edge of Corruption plot arc.

Mearan probably thinks of his decision to return to Tyria from the Mists as his biggest turning point.

9.)  Who does your character trust?

Phi trusts Mearan first and foremost, in spite of everything they have done.
