Measure B, which makes condoms mandatory in the adult entertainment industry, continues to be fiercely contested, even after its passage on Tuesday. Both members of the industry and people that support keeping businesses in Los Angeles are against the measure because it will likely force the profitable industry into neighboring cities like Pasadena and Vernon. LA is continuing the trend of being unfriendly to businesses and the adult entertainment industry is close to joining the growing number of industries that are leaving the city.
The main argument in support of Measure B is that condoms would protect the workers from sexually transmitted infections, but those against it, including The Los Angeles Times and The Daily News, argue that the choice to use condoms shouldn’t be made by the government. We agree—the government shouldn’t be legislating what goes on in the bedroom between consenting adults.
