Every time I draw Gnasher he looks drastically different from last time.
A lot of his old designs were made with the idea that "he looks like a normal mech at first but as he becomes more damaged it slowly reveals that he's really a kaiju in cybernetic armor." And this time I gave up on that idea and decided to make it more apparent that it's armor by having parts of his limbs exposed.
He's actually my main sona and not Boltslash. Boltslash is just easier to draw in interactions and stuff since he's human sized.
Originally I made Gnasher 300 feet tall since I was scaling him in comparison to Pacific Rim Jaegers (since Pacific Rim 2 is where I got his main concept from) but then I realized how hard it is to draw him interacting with other mechs since in Pacific Rim everything is massive compared to other characters from the same genres so his size just depends on what characters I'm drawing him with. He's typically going to be the biggest one in the room though.
He does have those booster wing things on his back but he can't actually fly with them. He uses them to propel himself out of the water.
He's pretty much the evil version of the average super robo (with fleshy parts mixed in). He doesn't really care for anything except fighting, he only works with humans so he can fight other aliens and mechs and when he does fight a mech he'll intentionally aim for the areas that have pilot(s) in them so he can rip them out and eat them.
No actual reason to eat them either other than the intimidation factor.
Oh and the armor around his feet can unfold and he uses his little lizard feet to disembowel his enemies if it gets really dire.
The shoulder pads can also extend forward and clamp down on enemies to either hold them in place or cut them in half. (Kinda like scissors.. I based it off of nerscylla's big chomp attack.)
The tip of his tail was cut off in battle and he wanted it replaced with a morning star/flail.
