Happy Halloween! 🦇 🎃 This week's extra spooky curator's picks featuring Ransom & Mitchell @ransom_mitchell! 🖤🖤Ransom & Mitchell is the fine art nom de plume for the artistic collaborations of Jason Mitchell @misalignedhead & Stacey Ransom @hld4ransom. Director-photographer Jason Mitchell and set designer-photo illustrator Stacey Ransom create highly-detailed and visually-lush portraits & scenarios. Their work is narrative in nature and draws upon the darker undercurrent that exists within all aspects of society. They aim to create worlds that cannot exist, through a unique combination of cinematic lighting, theatrically designed sets, and an illustrative approach that is inspired by the Italian and Dutch Master painters. This week's curator picks featuring Maryanna Hoggatt @leetlewolf! Maryanna Hoggatt was born in the Philippines and raised in Arizona before moving to Portland in 2007. A painter, cartoonist and commercial illustrator, she started developing her 'Animal Battle' series in 2013 and continues to explore the fantasy narrative through paintings and sculpture. This week's curator picks featuring Jana Brike! 💙 Jana Brike @janabrike was born in Latvia, a small country in the Northeastern part of Europe, while it was under Soviet occupation. Her childhood was bittersweet, molded by dark stories of war and deportation told to her by her grandparents, the cold and conservative atmosphere of catholic church ceremonies, and heightened by breathtaking ballets at the Opera House. Her inspirations are as diverse as folklore fairy tales, children’s book illustrations, imaginative Soviet animation films, and supernatural classical paintings.  She is also influenced by the colorful but forbidden imagery of Western pop culture that was guarded by her religious upbringing. #MEcuratorspick #moderneden #SF
