Dear First World Countries,
You were given what you were given. The vast majority of you were also given more than you really deserve. And that isn't taking into account how great or terrible a person you are at all, it's simple facts. You were born with more than what you deserve. And the vast majority of you (myself included) are totally incapable of deciphering how to use all this extravagant wealth, and so in our supreme intelligence, we decide to use it on ourselves.
I'm writing this in hopes that I can convince just someone, for once, to get all those "I"s out of their heads, stop worrying about things that don't matter, and look around yourself at a world that's falling apart much more than your social life is. I want you to read a newspaper. Find out what has been going on. Watch the news. Discover that there is a world outside of your pristine, white-walled, decadent, worry-less one and realize that there are people even in your own country who legitimately don't know what they are going to eat next, and not just because nothing in the pantry appeals to them. I want you to realize that there are 6 billion people on this planet, and science wouldn't choose to revolve around a single one of them.
So look at yourself, and look at your needs. Most likely, your needs are being met. So chill out. There are so many things about your life that could be so much worse, and you don't even realize that they exist.
