Being a media student, you would surely know how difficult it is to write a perfect feature story for media assignment. Experience with Twitter and Snapchat
Considering I want to pursue a career in public relations after college and have no experience with professional writing, I decided to take a class on media writing this semester. One of the assignments was to create a Twitter account specifically for the class where we would communicate with others and have links to our writings. Now I’ve already had a Twitter account since 2010, however, it’s more personal and for fun. I knew the basics.Adding links and photos, following trends and hashtags was easy for me. But keeping tweets on this class account more professional was a bit of a challenge. It was outside of what I’m used to on a site so familiar to me. Also, trying to gain followers and readers was much more difficult. Another task was to create a personalized story on Snapchat of an event or something exciting to share on our Twitter accounts. This was also something that I was already familiar with and knew how to work. Overall, the Twitter and Snapchat assignments were interesting to do from the point of a practicing media writer. I will continue to use my “professional” twitter to share any other writings I work on for this blog once the semester’s finished.

Wrong Envelope Makes Oscars 2017 History Feb 27, 2017
By: Claudia Gonzales
Sunday night’s Oscars took a huge misleading turn at the end of the event when the wrong winner of ‘Best Picture’ was announced. The producers and cast of ‘La La Land’ accepted the last award of the night and had been in the middle of giving their thanks when it was found they were not the actual winners. When Jordan Horowitz, one of the accepting producers, realized the mistake, he stated “There’s a mistake. ‘Moonlight’, you guys won best picture”. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were assigned to present the award, but were given the wrong cue card. Beatty went back on stage to defend himself, “I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, ‘La La Land’. That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.” PricewaterhouseCoopers, the firm responsible for the votes and envelopes, has issued an apology following the event. It states: “We sincerely apologize to 'Moonlight,' 'La La Land,' Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement for best picture.” “The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected. We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred.” Despite the mistake, both movies walked away with big wins. ‘La La Land’ took home five awards, and ‘Moonlight’ left with three, including ‘Best Picture’.
One Week Until Harry Styles’ Album Drops, What We’ve Heard So Far
After more than a year of waiting, Harry Styles is finally giving us a solo album May 12. Since the group went on hiatus late 2015, we’ve already had music released from the other guys of One Direction, including ex-member Zayn Malik. However, Harry is the one that’s been most anticipated. Which musical direction will he go in? Folk-y? Rock-ish? Soft ballads? I mean, he has the voice suited for all three. Last month we finally got our first glimpse into what we’re headed for with his debut single “Sign of the Times”. From the first few seconds, I was thrown off guard. It wasn’t what I expected at all. It reminded me of something out of a 70s album. The week after, Styles performed another track off the album “Ever Since New York” on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, and “Sweet Creature” was released today. The two are more like one another than they are to the first single. These are more mellow and acoustic. However, all three have a bit of a bittersweet tone to the lyrics. I’m still hoping for a more fast-paced song with electric guitars and voice riffs. Just one more week of waiting!
You can preorder the album here, and check out the latest performances here.

HARRY STYLES UPCOMING EVENTS
Harry Styles of One Direction has gone solo and has had a very busy April with promo for his debut single “Sign of the Times” released early in the month, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
Styles’ self-titled album releases next Friday, May 12. Fans will also get a chance to hear the second single “Sweet Creature” today at 12 PM EST on Apple Music’s Beats1 with Zane Lowe.
Tickets for the US segment of Styles’ tour go on sale May 5 at 10 AM (local venue time). Fans will need to register for a code that grants access to the sale by this Wednesday 10 PM PST. This will be the only way to purchase tickets. Ticketmaster has already posted a FAQ site specifically for this sale, due to high interest.
“Harry cares about his fans and understands there are going to be more people who want to see him on tour than there will be available tickets,” reads the statement on the site. “He’s committed to getting tickets in the hands of fans. Not scalpers or bots.”
The tour will run through 13 cities in the US starting September and continue to the UK and Europe, then finish in Japan.
On May 9, Styles will be performing on NBC’s The Today Show as part of the Summer Concert Series.
Styles will be making his acting debut in “Dunkirk”, directed by Christopher Nolan. The film will be in theaters July 21.

Harry Styles Heads in Different Direction
After more than a year since One Direction went on hiatus, we're finally getting a solo Harry Styles.
The former boy bander released his first single "Sign of the Times" on April 7 and has made quite a few appearances on television and radio shows since then, including a guest appearance on NBC's Saturday Night Live.
It was a pretty busy April, and the rest of the year looks to be the same.
Styles' self-titled album is set to release May 12, with a track list of 10 songs. And today at 12 p.m. EST, fans will get to have a first listen of the second single "Sweet Creature" on Beats1 with Zane Lowe.
On Friday morning, chaos broke out amongst the fanbase when he put out a tweet that read "SEE.YOU.SOON" with an image attached revealing tour dates.
The tour begins mid-September and will make its course through 13 cities in the US, a few stops in the UK and Europe, and will finish off in Japan. Going for a more intimate setting, Styles will be touring venues with capacities of only about 2.000 to 3.000. Much smaller compared to the football arenas he used to play with the group. To attend any of the US or Canada shows, fans must first register for a code with Ticketmaster to gain a chance to purchase. Key word: chance. Registering does not guarantee you’ll receive a code. This has left many fans nervous as there’s “going to be more people who want to see him on tour than there will be available tickets.” Registration for codes must be completed by May 3 at 10 p.m. PT and tickets go on sale 10 a.m. (local venue time) May 5.
Harry is also making his entrance into the acting world. He stars in the upcoming war film “Dunkirk” directed by Christopher Nolan, in theaters July 21.
Since One Direction went on hiatus back in 2015, we've seen almost all the boys embark on solo careers. This includes singles from Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, and ex-member Zayn Malik whose solo album "Mind of Mine" debuted at #1 in the US and UK.
When asked about the future of the band, Styles told Cameron Crowe in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, "I love the band, and would never rule out anything in the future. The band changed my life, gave me everything."
