A week without formal meetings and formal busy work leads to more perks of the job. Voting closed on Sunday night for the company logo. It’s quite a cool, crisp logo, very modern and understated. I like it, and I think it reflects the times. Now that’s out the way, we may actually be able to crack on.
First client this week is the Media School, organising performances for the Reception area of the campus. Matt has been quick off the mark on this one, and it’s all organised before I can even finish typing this blog! Good work!
I’m not massively involved in the programming of it, though I’ll pop down now and again to scout a few of the acts. I get the feeling that a few of these artists could be strong additions to our music output, and I can’t dispute their talent in the slightest. I know that recorded music doesn’t make a huge amount of money (from financially ruinous experience) but it is a consistent revenue stream, and I know that we can help these fresh new bands get on the major services. I’ve got to look in to 2 more services, as I’m hoping to use the one I’m comfortable with, but that’s for due diligence to decide.
The one thing I have to do is knock up some release forms. We’re planning to get the sessions filmed, pay the artists a nominal fee and use the footage in our archive. It’s a quick one page job, so it doesn’t take long. Just gotta find the time around work!
When it comes to it though, it doesn’t really matter. The TV Production crews are thin on the ground as it is and are recording the main events at Media Week. That’s still something we’re looking to use, so it’s not all lost, but the footage of the performances will go by the wayside. There are still some great performances, which gives me a little sense of pride that I’ve been involved in some way. It’s a start!
One more small thing was to just make some deletions to my contract draft. Again, not massive work, but still quite time consuming, making sure that I’m not removing anything important. I get the feeling that I’m becoming quite adept at contracts now, almost second nature! Only one clause to write, but it’s proving problematic. Maybe some focus will move it forward.
