Have been thinking about blog entries and updates but keeping them as drafts. I’ve had an idea for the topic since I started working on the first podcasting project, but left this as the second so as to have more time for production with the trimester and having done my surgery.
The topic I have chosen from the options is gender, and I want to explore expression, experience and affirmation through interviews and solo narration.
Inspiration from The Commune.
Talking with people I know at Rainbow Hub Waikato because gender can be a personal and sensitive topic, make sure that I am not crossing boundaries.
Aiming for more than three episodes but they may be shorter in length.
Semi structured interviews emphasising what the individual chooses to share instead of a rigid structure.
Have a different interviewee each episode, but a theme across episodes.
I personally believe that gender expression, experience and affirmation is important to both cis and trans people, and so would like to be less explicit about labels with in the episodes if possible to remove some possible bias.
I personally identify with this topic and think it would be interesting. I have struggled with not feeling masculine enough due to things like having longer hair and a shorter height, and I also have gender diverse friends in America struggling with the politics and policies surrounding this issue.
I don’t have an idea for a cover or title just yet, but I have people in mind to interview. Will be more work because of the script required for solo narration.
