Tips to keep your family and loved ones safe
If safety is your priority, you need to think of installing an alarm monitoring system. The purpose of an alarm system is to let the user and the appropriate authorities know whenever there is an emergency. This includes an intrusion, fire, environmental problem or medical crisis. The system identifies these emergencies using various sensors. It allows quick and detailed communication between your home security system and the central station of your security provider. Your control panel registers an emergency event and sends a signal to the central monitoring station, where the appropriate authorities are notified and sent to your home. The technical specifics may be slightly different for each security provider, but the basics of alarm monitoring are similar in any home security system. Your system control panel is the centre of a network of sensors, which may include window or door sensors, motion detectors, tamper sensors on the telephone box, or specialized temperature, flood, and smoke detectors. When your system is armed, and any of these sensors are triggered, a signal is sent to the monitoring station-typically via your telephone line. However, some alarm monitoring systems also offer alternate or backup transmission options. When a sensor is activated or faulted, it sends an alert to the alarm control panel. The course will then respond based on the programming settings for that zone. For example, one sensor might only cause alarms if activated while the system is Armed, while others may cause alarms at any time, regardless of the current system status. Making sure that your sensors have the correct programming settings is very important.
A fall or a medical emergency is a common concern faced by everyone as we age. Being alone during a medical emergency or fall is even more worrisome. Fortunately, today’s technology provides numerous options to monitor and respond to medical emergencies. Medical alert systems–also referred to as a personal emergency response system (PERS), a medical emergency response system (MERS) or a fall monitor–can provide increased independence and peace of mind. We believe they are an essential part of a complete care plan.
