Medical practitioners: our unsung heroes
The war against the worst-ever outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus is as disastrous, challenging and overwhelming as it is (and perhaps going to be) for the three west African states -Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone - all of which are badly hit. Liberia’s so few medical practitioners and their likes are providing extraordinary services under the prevailing circumstances. To that end, I shall refer to them as Liberia’s unsung heroes in the fight against the Ebola virus disease (EVD).
My writing of this tumblr post is in respond to a Mamadee Diakite production title “A Taste of Removing An Ebola Dead Body.”
Diakite’s 17 minutes and 26 seconds video production captures the meticulous steps that are taken by an Ebola dead body removal team: from preparation of chlorine to disinfecting virtually all of the personal protective equipments and to removing an “Ebola dead body.”
Having washed Diakite’s production, my understanding and appreciation of the medical partitioners/health workers is way beyond measure. Their fight against this scourge is so delicate that there exists not an option for error. In other words, a minute error in the removal process of an Ebola dead body will cost their lives as the dead. It takes courage and compassion to do “A Taste of Removing An Ebola Dead Body.”
A very big thanks to our unsung heroes, et al who put their lives in harm’s way as the war against the worst-ever outbreak of the EVD continues. #NoNewCases #KickEbolaOut
