     There’s a huff from the child, his shoulders hunching mutely. “Rin,” It’s not a whine-- Kakashi’s not a baby he doesn’t whine, he’s just expressing his displeasure. He can’t help it his voice is still so high, not yet like his dad’s. “I’m not actually like one of the ninken, y’know? You don’t have to pet me.” 

     Despite his verbal protest, Kakashi makes no move to lean away from the girl’s reach. He simply buries his head deeper into the academy textbook, eyes downcast as he focuses on the words.

Oh, she got into it so fast! And even got in his personal space! Now, Obito can’t stop his face from turning entirely red! He’s always throwing small hints about his deeper feelings for her but he never knows if she catches on, like right now... Maybe she just really likes the song. 

With a small tremble to his voice, Obito continues it, “Rin darling, you’re my best friend!” With a small modification, of course. “I’ve been doing bad things that you don’t know about~! Stealing your stuff now and then~” Funny how... This song is so relatable to him, he did steal a few insignificant stuff from her.

     Kakashi gives her a small shrug, oblivious to any other meaning or connotation to medicinal plants than, well, medical plants? He could admit that he didn’t have the knack for medical jutsu that Rin did, and he was willing to ask for help with improving that gap in knowledge. Starting with the more basic fundamentals such as which plants he could use out in the field if need be. 

     He didn’t see himself needing to use them for as long as Rin was his teammate, but he’d like to have some grasp of the concept. Better overprepared than under.

“I know there’s some plants that you use topically, and some that you can eat. But there’s also other plants that are dangerous to touch or consume.” He knew enough of basics wilderness survival. Could identify the poisonous plants and knew better than to touch them, but didn’t have much understanding of how to break down their components into a poison or antidote. 

     He thinks over her words for a minute, before nodding. “If you want to lend me a book...” He wouldn’t admit his interest, though Rin definitely knew his weakness for textbooks and the like. “I don’t think I’ve ever been to the greenhouse...”
