End of a busy week that I enjoyed a lot!
Come to think of it, I mainly performed exams on cats... The other students and the vet I worked with were nice and helpful.
There were some incidents however: illegal imports to manage but the worst is that we had reactions on dog vaccines : several dogs had vagal discomfort and another came to the school emergency with swelling after being vaccinated at his attending veterinarian. The dogs are all fine today but the problem is that all these vaccines came from different batches... So we had to made pharmacovigilence reports. I think I will probably never know the answer because classes resume on Monday and I will therefore no longer have the opportunity to be in the service...
In any case, this week has been a very rich one.
I tried to reinvest everything I had observed during my previous internships.... And I realize that I work a lot by mimicry! I really enjoyed talking with the owners about their companions as well as carrying out clinical examinations and then vaccinations. I realized that I was gaining in ease and precision very quickly, especially in the gestures. I gained self-confidence in front of the owners and I was happy and proud when a consultation ended. It was also necessary to learn how to control the hospital's computer software, manage files, prescriptions and invoices. This week I really felt like a veterinary student...
It is this kind of experience that I will have to remember when I am overwhelmed by work and stress in a few weeks. Because I like this job. Only, sometimes I forget it....
