both of us are broken and we ignore the fact
wasting time. — with @moncoeurseo
if you had to ask sora what her perfect afternoon looked like, she wouldn’t have a clear answer — only that it would be anywhere but here. who even had this many papers stored away for months on end and still considered them important? her eyes scanned the tenth paper of the hour, something about the student government from 2021 that only made her temper flare. who even remembered 2021? that was like, eons ago. she skim-read the paragraphs, only pausing at mentions of clubs or names she recognised.
when she first found out about this secret society stuff, she thought it would be just like the movies, constant drama and scheming to stay in control of everyone and everything, not hours of paperwork in the dustiest part of the library and only seoyun with her. seoyun. of all members. sora was far from stupid; she knew this was just a way for the others to get out of doing the work they’d put off for months (or even years, judging by the age of some of these papers) by dumping it on the two who were seen as lowest in the group.
she hated being looked down on, yet here she was, doing exactly what she was told and wasting her own time. she hadn’t even spoken to seoyun once, and 64 full minutes had already passed. the only sounds in the room were the flicking of pages, the occasional scribble of pens, and the rare thump of a stamp hitting paper. neither of them had cracked from the boredom.
yet.
sora set down the paper in her hand and let out a groan, slouching forward in her chair until her head rested flat against the table. she stayed still for a moment before straightening up and turning her attention to the stack of papers between them — the stack that hardly had a dent in it.
“why are we even doing this?” sora asked finally, picking up the top page from the pile and scoffing as she read the date — 2015. the paperwork held no interesting information, no real value to the group, yet here she was, wasting her time on it.
“i don’t see why they have us doing this together,” she started, eyes skimming the paper on seoyun’s side of the table. “i mean, i know i’m new but like-” she stopped herself before she continued, biting her tongue before the insulting words could spill out. she moved on to the next paper, not bothering to mutter an apology for the words that were on the tip of her tongue — words that seoyun had probably heard a million times before.
