"He appears quintessentially sixteen, just at the brink of adolescent manhood, and has appeared so for much of the last few years -- his father's disappearance and his mother's remarriage somehow aged him considerably, the adolescent equivalent of men in their thirties growing grey hair from stress. The positive side effect of this is that it has given him a confidence that few sixteen-year-olds ever possess. Just now has his actual age caught up to his apparent one. Slim and narrow, with lean musculature, his body is fairly fit thanks to the blessing of testosterone boosts of youth, but not athletic. His face has soft angles, with bone structure that could easily grow harsh in his old age or if he lost much weight. His youth keeps his face bright, though, defending itself quietly from the forceful cheekbones and jawline that will one day make him incontrovertibly adult."
