“I do, but Caleb, I don’t go around bring Blair into every conversation. It’s not great social etiquette.”
“And you’re telling me this social etiquette shit is necessary on a college campus?” she asked, raising a brow.

Mari: I can't believe I just sat down and made a list of all the older men that I would make sweet love to. It's lonnnnnggggggg.
Caleb: who is this so I can make sure to never talk to you in person?
Sat outside, Katherine heaved out a content sigh as she felt her eyes becoming heavy. Just another party at one of the frathouses. The brunette was never really all that fond of parties but a girl in her class had asked her to come along, though Katherine had managed to lose the other within half an hour of the party. She was probably sucking face with some random boy anyway. Her gaze lingered along the sky, the small stars a nice contrast to the dark midnight sky. Taking another swig of her bottle, Katherine let her lips curve up a moment. “Pretty damn nice out about now, huh?”
Caleb had found his way to Kat after spending a good hour trying to convince his frat brothers Mondays were the worst nights to throw a party. His efforts were fruitless, and in the end he simply walked outside to escape the noise and general annoyance of the population in his house. “Always is when you’re out here. It’s like you’re some fuckin’ magic force that makes the sky want to look nice.” the boy shrugged, not really putting much through into his words as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
“You can’t just go around saying things like that.”
“It’s the truth. I thought you people liked the truth?”
“More of a warning?” Katherine’s brows rose lightly as her lips twitched in a make-shift smile. “Anywhere really, wherever it would take us. It isn’t much about the destination but more or less the trip itself.” She shrugged lightly closing her eyes for a moment as she felt the sun burn her skin. But his words snapped her out of it, hazel hues focusing back on Caleb once again. “Hm, I could sit here all day. Or did you have something else in mind?”
“That sounds fun.” Caleb admitted carefully. He pulled out his phone and shrugged. “Well you can stay here if you want, but I’m not about to get roasted by the sunshine. It’s safer inside you know.” He offered a playful smirk as she rubbed the back of his neck. “All I have to offer are the drinks back at my house. I’m not exactly this campus’ version of exciting.”
“Caleb.”
“Brooklyn.”
“Holy shit, this is all real. I’m actually going to be working on Calvin Klein’s campaign this summer.”
“Great, now I can go home and tell mom and dad I know an underwear model. Oh wait. I forgot. They’re both dead and I don’t give a shit.”
“…so this guy behind us..Don’t look, but he’s been following me around for the past half and hour.. so please pretend like you’re madly in love significant other. I’ll pay you or something.”
“Yeah no I’ll pass. Good luck with him.” Caleb glanced up at the girl with an annoyed look before looking back at his computer.

“ so, yeah, i got arrested. apparently setting a trash can on fire whilst high is a serious offence. ”
“Hm. Nice. Next time, try not being an arsonist. But hey, now you can get a prison tattoo or whatever the hell they give inmates nowadays.”
“And here I was priding myself thinking you did pay attention to me,” Katherine joked, her head shaking lightly. Perhaps it wasn’t a complete joke but for now she would let it be, once again reminding herself that Caleb didn’t care. Things were different now she had returned, right? “Eh, I don’t think you’re all that bad,” she said, a light shrug accompanying her words though his negative reaction towards the idea quickly had her shutting it down. “Well, then I won’t ask. Forget I even offered it in the first place.”
“Hey, I’m not saying I’d never do it.” Caleb spoke carefully. “I’m just saying you’ve never had to spend more than a few hours with me at a time. It’s... you know, more of a warning thing.” A small smile appeared once again. “Where would you even go? It’s not there’s anywhere exciting around here worth a trip besides the ocean and the forest. And even then...” his voice trailed, unsure of what he was trying to convey. Surely not that he was giving in to the fact the outdoors may in fact be nice after all. “Anyways, are you just about done bathing in sun and knowledge from that book?” the boy asked as he glanced over at her.
“I’m such a kind soul Caleb, I thought you knew by now,” she teased, letting out a soft laugh. Somehow Katherine was already able to imagine it, spending hours in a car with Caleb, probably arguing about what way to drive or what music should be playing but somehow making the best of it, with stupid sarcastic comments on by passers or finding small ways to make each other laugh. The idea sounded nice, but it wasn’t something Katherine felt like she should voice out loud. The two of them had kissed, on multiple occasions but that didn’t mean she was allowed to feel this way, to dream up some kind of perfect image she had desperately wanted back then with Ryder. Caleb was her friend, and it was fine if things stayed the way they were. As long as she wouldn’t lose him, Katherine would be fine with not labeling things. “I don’t really think you can fuck it up. Well, maybe. But I think it could be fun.”
“You really think I pay that much attention to anyone else?” Caleb asked with a surprising expression, although he knew he in fact care no matter how much it bothered him to do so “Oh trust me, I can fuck up anything without trying. That’s why I’m in my room all the time- I’m just thinking of everyone else’s safety.” His smirk gave way he had no intentions of protecting others, but preferred his recluse state. “Hours trapped in metal contraptions with no wifi? Your definition of fun is much different than I thought.” His dark, short hair ruffled in the small breeze as he shook his head.
“Well I want pizza. That good for you?”
“I’m a fuckin’ college student, pizza is probably in my blood at this point.”
“Hmhm, exactly,” her smile was bright, unlike most smiles she would give to others. Whenever Katherine really took the time to think of whatever thing she had going with Caleb, she was genuinely glad how they both seemed to happy around each other. No bullshit, no beating around the bush. Just an easiness she didn’t share with many others. His question caused her smile to remain on her lips, meeting his amber hues. “No, I wasn’t planning on it. If I do however I will let you know,” her right hand ran down her hair as she pondered for a moment, “maybe let you tag along.”
“How kind of you to let me come.” A faintest of smiles lingered as he shook his head. Caleb would never admit it, but it was nice just sitting in the calm of the summer sun without the pressures of school to deal with. It was a feeling of purely being there for the relationships, and however nice it was he still wasn’t sure how comfortable he was with the idea. “but I don’t think you want me fucking up your adventures.” Caleb shrugged and glanced back at the girl. “I do better not surrounded by annoying strangers.”
“Shh,” she put a finger to his lips briefly, “don’t ruin the fun.” Leaning back, Katherine settled both her hands flat on the grass behind her to keep herself up. “Well, only one more year and then we’re done. I do plan on actually making that seeing as studying is expensive as fuck and I am already working a whole lot. Speaking of work, Ryker actually offered to put in a few good words at the coffee place he works at, so that I could make some extra money. Figured that wouldn’t be a bad idea, especially because I spent a whole lot during…,” she searched for the right words briefly, “my little trip.” Giving him another smile, the brunette tilted her head lightly. “Well I sure do hope you won’t end up like him, I prefer you the way you are now to be honest.”
“So now you’re going to be a music junkie on caffine? That’ll be fun to watch.” the boy’s devilish smirk reappeared after a brief exit when the female had touched his lips. “Speaking of your little trip,” he paused as he watched the stereotypical frat boy saunter away. “You planning on taking any more of those any time soon?” Caleb asked with a small sense of interested in his tone. “I’m going to need warning if I’m getting stuck with these idiots alone again.”
