Just an Average Girl | Open
Vee was bouncing with excitement as she looked up and down Main Street. The town of Swynlake was enchanting and quirky and she adored everything about it. She even loved how the town seemed to have a mind of its own and kept trying to make her lose her way. Oh, she was so on to its tricks.
At her age, she’d seen her share of magical oddities in the world, so she didn’t think that anything Swynlake threw at her would surprise her. And the town’s reputation for being so magick friendly made it ideal for her purposes.
She was finally home. She could feel it!
But first there was the small matter of her family’s little secret. They’d been rejected and chased out of too many places now for the crime of simply existing. Or, well. You know. Because some considered their diet to be a little...problematic. Which Vee thought was ridiculous. She would never hurt anyone and was just like any other girl! She loved books and music and shopping for new clothes. She enjoyed hiking and watching movies. Plus she could bake an amazing chocolate chip cookie. Even...if she couldn’t exactly eat it.
But she could share them with others! Which was all part of her plan. You see, Vee was determined to make sure that Swynlake got the absolute best first impression of the Hauntley’s possible. And to do that, she intended to make sure they were an indispensable part of the community before they revealed what they really were.
And becoming part of the community started with a friendly introduction––and who didn’t love a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie?
Pushing aside the uncharacteristic nerves, Vee smiled widely and hurried over to the first person she saw. She balanced her plate of cookies in one hand and offered the other in a friendly handshake. “Hi! I’m Vee Hauntley! Would you like a cookie? I baked them myself! We just moved to town, you know. It’s super nice to meet you!”
