All the Delights of the Season | Henry & Meg
The Valerians had turned out in droves: everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the foreign king. Henry had caught more than that, thus far, and already it was more than he cared for. He hoped Alexander Lambton’s stay in Valeria would be a short one, but he feared that he might become a permanent resident, instead.
Henry was busy avoiding the guest of honor, as well as his own family (John aside), when he approached Meg Greene.
In the short time that they had known each other, he’d found her company refreshing: he appreciated her candor and her sense of humor (and she was rather easy on the eyes, too). It only added to her appeal that his father both disliked and distrusted her (solely on the basis of where she was born). When Henry felt his father’s eye on him, he was eager to be seen in her unsavory company.
“I must say ... the Staffords do know how to put on quite the spectacle. Tell me, have you seen anything as wondrous as all this, back home?”
Come with Me | Alexander & Meg
Alexander’s eye was on the Queen and it was on her cousin, but he knew he could not have either of them just yet. He must be patient. That did not stop his eye from wandering to the other ladies who were in attendance at the ball that evening.
It had been too long since he had had the company of a woman.
Margaret Greene had caught his notice immediately. She was beautiful, witty, and flirtatious. He doubted very much that she would be able to resist his charms.
Although he was often far from it, Alexander had always considered himself to be a cautious man. He did not mean to yet draw public attention to his attraction to Anna Calvert while he was trying to secure a marriage to the Queen and he certainly didn’t mean to do so when it came to Margaret Greene, who he meant to have warm his bed until he could find a more suitable replacement.
So he waited until she had stepped away to approach her. Making certain no one was watching him, he came up behind her as she stood out on the balcony to catch some fresh air.
“Now, what’s a pretty girl like you doing standing out here in the cold all alone?” He asked, taking another step forward towards her, “I’d offer to escort you back inside and fetch you something warm to drink, but, as you, no doubt, have heard, I’m soon to be engaged ... and people talk. I’m sure you understand. However, if you know somewhere a bit more private where we might go ... I’ve never met a Fadrean woman before ... and I must admit I’m rather curious.” He reached out, softly stroking her arm.
Back in January, Meg Greene managed to capture Allie Merrell’s reaction after seeing a Falcott gifset for the first time. 2:55

Wondering | Meg & Cordelia
Cordelia had been pleased when the Seymours had announced that their cousin would be staying with them. She’d always found Grace to be sweet but dull; Clara to be lively but spoiled; and William to be friendly but foolish. She never dreaded their company, but she never particularly relished it either and she suspected that Margaret Greene would, at least, prove to be an entertaining addition.
She had not disappointed and Cordelia quickly came to appreciate both her humor and her manner, which was rather refreshing - especially when compared with that of the rest of her family.
This evening, the Staffords were hosting the Seymours to a private dinner. As they all gathered in one of the sitting rooms, Cordelia kept an eye on her youngest sister who was doing her best to be attentive to William as he discussed with her, in detail, the latest coat he had purchased for himself. Cordelia hoped that it was the chance to speak with her sister that had caused him to be so animated but perhaps he would have been just as excited to talk to anyone else.
Meg was near her and, turning, she said. “Your cousin appears to adore my sister very much,”
Or at least, he thought he did. He didn’t know her as well as he thought (he’d proved that as recently as the week before when he had gifted her such an extravagant necklace. Even a man with no sense of fashion, could have discerned that that would not have been to Genevieve’s tastes.) Still, for all of that, William was proving to be the least offensives of the potential additions to the Stafford family (not that the others had set the bar especially high). And while he was a bit self-centered and silly, Cordelia did believe that he had the best intentions, but she was eager to know if everyone else who knew him thought as much.
“Does he speak of her often when they are apart?” She asked.
ooc | Henry & Meg
omg henry likes hanging out/flirting with meg so much haha!!!
honestly, she checks all of his boxes: she’s hot and witty and modern and flirty and charming and feels even a little dangerous and henry is all for making decisions that are great in the moment but have consequences later b/c his “live fast die young” is his motto but so is “have fun mortify dad” and flirting with someone like meg in pUBLIC is certainly socially frowned upon, henry literally sees no down side to this relationship!!
