Regardless of the fact that Sherlock is still alive, John is completely unaware of that - as far as he’s concerned, his best friend has committed suicide. That’s the real tragedy of TRF. Totally with you on the Ponds’ fate, though.
To be perfectly fair to you, I laughed aloud in intellectual delight when Sherlock jumped, causing the other two dozen people in the room to glare at me. But I think it’s *because* we know that John’s grief is unnecessary that it becomes so horrible.
Hmm yeah, probably. Yeah. I see it. I just don't feel it. :P
And I definitely laughed and squealed a lot in that episode in a "This is so clever! I love it when you're clever, Moffat!" way. It was good.
