My submission for the Hoenn section of @poketcg-art's pokedex redraw - my pick was Mega Aggron! Aggron is my all-time favourite pokemon and I was (mildly) bummed out that somebody already picked it, so I went for it's Mega evolution instead. this one is based off the 5ban graphics tcg card from the XY Primal Clash set - making the background was pretty fun! original image under the cut

IllusDex 0071 - 0304 ココドラ Aron

Aron group together in makeshift dens of scrap metal and ore. Aron is able to derive sustenance from organic and inorganic material. Aron enjoys alloys, but ingots of pure atomic metals are a treat. Aron also enjoys iron-rich foods like soybean roots and molasses.

Lairon hardens its metal armor according to Wolff’s Law, increasing the joules of work done by applying constant pressure from waterfalls. Lairon in urban settings like to be pressure washed. Some Pokémon Centers have car washes that Lairon can occupy.

Aggron’s armor is comprised of a steel alloy with a melting point far beyond any man-made steel. Aggron sheds its armor and builds fortresses of scrap where Aron Eggs are incubated by volcanic heat. Aron eat this scrapped steel in order to gain the calories to evolve.

Mega Aggron has a different body composition than its base form. Infinity Energy triggers the rapid expression of genes for proteins involved in Aggron’s armor production in formerly low-expression tissue. The result drops the Rock Type to increase its defenses.
