It was sad to hear about the passing of Bobbi Kristina yesterday. We send our condolences to the Brown and Houston families.
I just have one question to pose to the church today. How long must we suffer that person who calls herself a prophet, Juanita Bynum? Juanita has showed herself to be false OVER, and OVER, and OVER again. We have taken the time to document her follies not to shame a fellow Believer who “got it wrong” or was well-intentioned but made a mistake (the things we are accused of when identifying a prophet as false), but to leave a trail and pattern of evidence to bolster the claim.
I wanted to find a place to just cut a clip of this fake, emotionally-riddled “prayer” from earlier this year. But you just have to suffer through it as I did. Listen closely and watch the theatrics. It’s up to you if you just want to watch a few minutes of it, but I recommend watching the whole thing – especially if you are still on the fence about her.
Are you finished shaking your head? Let me just say, I did not have a problem with Juanita praying for Bobbi’s recovery. I had a problem with her making such a production out of it to aggrandize herself. She launched a whole campaign as you can see starting with this video she posted on Facebook earlier this year to show her commitment. But what really kept bothering me besides her screaming and trying to command God to act via her screaming, was her name continuing to scroll across the bottom of the video. So you would not forget her name, it emblazoned in a pink banner along with a second banner hashtag “Pray for Bobbi Kristina”. I just could not get past that. If all this shouting was sincere, then why does her name have to keep appearing across the bottom of the screen? Why do you need credit? And it’s not just Juanita Bynum but AMBASSADOR Juanita Bynum. It was pimp opportunism to find a way to benefit off a story that generated way too much interest for Juanita to pass by. So she made this video.
PRAYERS OF THE RIGHTEOUS
Can we take a moment to think about what constitutes a righteous prayer – especially when done so publicly this way? This woman stood there and performed while goading the people to “shout” when it was all just hype and emotionalism. But how many times on do we as people pray this way especially with others so they will think we are “anointed”? And how many times have we discounted or dismissed a prayer of a fellow Believer because it sounded too boring or not forceful enough? All of us have experienced disappointment if something we prayed for did not go our way. But to make such a show of something this tragic is not normal or typical. No this… This was done as a Juanita Bynum promo shoot. A demo to the stars. And it was her hope that Bobbi really did recover not only that Bobbi lives but so she can insert it as a notable accomplishment (you and I aren’t notable) for her Prophet Portfolio. That she gets results.
And all that screaming… What was really being said? Could you make it out? Why do we have to have these huge elaborate prayers to show we have the Holy Ghost Connection? Matthew 6 also speaks on this and yet we still do it:
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
And at the end of the day, Juanita claims to be a prophet but could not discern that this just was not going to happen for Bobbi and to keep these prayers secret. Instead, she asked God repeatedly to beat back the death angel. Well God doesn’t have to contend with death. It doesn’t even make sense to pray such a prayer. Juanita just makes this stuff up to sound deep and anointed.
As of early this morning, there is a finally a sort-of statement from her on Twitter with a broken Facebook link:
Notice the deflection of owning her own mess and using the collective “We”. No, YOU Juanita are the one that masquerades as a prophet that “gives Heaven no rest” (which also doesn’t make sense because Heaven doesn’t rest Psalm 121:4). You are the one that says you have an intimate knowledge or access to God that others do not because of your said “prophetic” gift. You are the one that, upon this said gift, makes a living from one preaching event to another. It is beyond me why you are still in business. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Can we at least acknowledge that on the base level, in order to fit the criteria to be a prophet you have to have the gift of Discernment? Can we at least do this? What exactly are these woman’s prophetic accomplishments – specifically – that she should have any notoriety because of it? Because here at Pimppreacher, all we have seen is her make merchandise off the emotions of people and feeding off their desperation to see things happen. Anything she says has been fulfilled was probably not a great mystery in the beginning. Not a revelation at all.
There is a record being kept, by the way, of all the preachers that continue to regard her as some great personality. Recently she starred in Marvin Sapp’s Bishop Ordination appearing to pour the oil on his head. Foolishness.
I am exhausted with this woman. You should be too. I return to my question from the beginning: How long must we suffer that person who calls herself a prophet, Juanita Bynum? I don’t know what other indicators you need to stop giving this woman respect as a prophet. Stop inviting her to speak as one. Don’t give her a talk show. And stop FOLLOWING her as one. Stop being impressed so easily because someone sounds good. Stop sponsoring her way of life. She isn’t the real thing. And perhaps dear Bobbi Kristina passing away should be the last straw.
