And the second of our first two matches today is a face off of two more Psychic type Megas, both from Generation 3!

Mega Latias, one of the Eon Duo now boosted with power, is allegedly one of the fastest Pokémon in existence! She can reach speeds of up to mach 4, with her body resembling a jet plane. Latias in this form also resembles her brother more too, with both Pokémon eschewing their traditional colours for a more neutral purple. Despite the apparent feat of speed though, Mega Latias' base stats are actully geared towards Special Defense and Special Attack- though with a respectable 110 Speed all the same. As she flies, Mega Latias is said to drop transparent down over the battlefield, confusing her enemies! But of course, we also all remember Mega Latias fondly for her role in Alpha Sapphire, where she carried players across the skies of Hoenn. That's definitely earned her some goodwill, can that win her some matches?

Going up against the Legendary is Mega Medicham! When Medicham mega evolves, it's said that its mental power becomes limitless. What that means in practice though is not that it has powerful Special Attacks, but rather its physical hits are augmented by its Pure Power to do massive damage! With a base Attack of 100, when trained to its fullest potential it becomes functionally equivalent to a base Attack of 250! It's hard to find any Pokémon that can hit harder than that. Of course, with Legends Z-A not having any abilities, Mega Medicham's power was supplemented to adjust for the lack of Pure Power, which has been readjusted once more in Pokémon Champions. The arms that Mega Medicham generates with its power are imbued with malevolent power, and become more realistic the more Medicham trains its spirit- so don't mess with them! It's another exceedingly powerful Pokémon, but will it win in this match?

Come to think of it, it's honestly kinda cool that the first opponent Roy's Lucario faces after mastering Mega Lucario Z is Chalce's (Mega) Medicham.

Dot vs. Chalce has always been neat as battles of wits but Mega Lucario Z against Medicham is a pretty solid mirror match. They're both Fighting-types that excel in martial combat, but they also share the specialization in chi, or "energy flow", in different ways. Medicham is part Psychic-type and specializes in psychic and spiritual energy which it can use to read others' minds and act accordingly, and while Lucario isn't a Psychic-type, it is known for its specialization in aura, which it controls and harnesses to "read" others' aura, ie their feelings, and itself act accordingly.

And especially with Mega Lucario Z, it parallels (Mega) Medicham in being a fighter that thrives on skillful maneuvering and use of chi to anticipate opponents' moves and act gracefully with finesse and dance-like movements.

So Roy using Mega Lucario Z against Chalce's (Mega) Medicham and being the one who successfully proves a point to her works quite nicely that way, imo.
