The friend thing || Imogen & Megan

She'd never really been friends with anyone other than Annie, Ruby, Kelly and Sophie. When they'd all drifted apart from each other it had been hard for her to let go completely and, while she'd talked to people and had people she could hang around with, she hadn't really made any new actual friends. It was kind of hard for Imogen to grasp. That Megan actually wanted to hang out again after what she'd done at the party. Still wanted to be friends after Imogen had pretty much thrown herself at her. Okay, it hadn't really been exactly like that but Imogen felt weirdly desperate thinking about it all the same so she often tried to pretend it hadn't happened. Good thing nobody else seemed to have seen them because that made it much easier to do... well except -A but they seemed to know everything, seemed to always see what was going on. It was creepy and Imogen was still scared. She'd finished summer school, finally, and she was probably going to have to take a year out and work now considering all the colleges weren't accepting for this year any longer. She didn't mind. She hated studying, she still hadn't been able to get it and it was only by luck that she'd even managed to get through summer school in general. At least she didn't have to go back to school and repeat the year though because, while there wasn't anything really wrong about it, she'd have personally felt embarrassed about having to repeat. She'd felt stupid enough times as it was - after kissing Annie, when she'd been cheating, then again when -A had outed her secret, kissing Megan - and Imogen didn't think she had room inside her to feel any more.

She'd arranged to meet Megan outside the cinema a few hours after her last class so she checked her phone to confirm the time, took one last look in the mirror, and then turned around to grab her bag and hurried downstairs. She was intercepted by her grandfather and ended up having to help him rearrange something on the shelf in the living room before she was free to leave so she was worried about running late as she jumped on a bus and fiddled with her phone as she waited impatiently for the bus to stop. When, finally, it stopped Imogen got off and walked up the road towards the cinema, which was up in the spot known locally as "the entertainment centre". Basically it was a large car park bordered by a cinema, a bowling alley, a couple of fast food restaurants and a gym. She took out her phone to check the time and then glanced around but Megan didn't seem to be there yet so she leaned against the wall outside and waited for her, feeling weirdly nervous because she still couldn't get why Megan wanted to be friends. Maybe just because she attributed Imogen's behaviour solely to alcohol. Which was a good thing....
