Meg: Generations is the first book I’ve read from Steve Alten. I saw the Meg movie and did not realize it was based on a book series. Saw this book on Netgalley and thought I’d try one. “Companies are now making big bucks from the display and shows of these captured prehistoric sea creatures. 🦈 Some escape their pens and wreak havoc on local ecosystems...and eat people. And people try to stop them. And we don’t know if they’re successful...🤷🏼♂️” What I liked - the action sequences were generally good. Easy to imagine the terror of man vs prehistoric sea creature. What I didn’t like - too much overexplaining of sea creature biology that didn’t add to the story. 10% of the book is about cancer protocols. And there’s NO ENDING. Not a fan of leaving characters in the middle of a scene. If you’re looking for a mindless, action story to take to the beach, this might be an option for you. Alten has a dedicated fan base and there are some 5 star reviews for this book. If you want a well written story with an ending it’s probably not for you.
