Yep! Every new gen I do this! I think it’s more fun & it really feels just like when I was little & I got a new Pokemon game. I wasn’t online & I didn’t buy magazine guides (sometimes I’d look over friends’ stuff tho), so I discovered everything by myself.
In Gen4 I was online more & I didn’t go in blind. While I had fun, I wasn’t terribly impressed or anything. By the time Gen5 came around, I had the brilliant idea to start this (grueling...) tradition. I look at first-form Starters, the Box Legendaries, and then I cut myself off from every possible source of Pokemon spoilers/news. New Pokemon, new mechanics, locations, gyms, etc.
It’s gotten a lot easier with these closer world releases.... Gen5 wait was horrible.... @H@;;;
