Valentine’s Day was somewhat of a special holiday to Slightly. He had a hopeless romantic streak in him, so he always wanted to spend the holiday of hearts with someone—even to the point where he’d signed up for a blind date program when he wasn’t seeing anyone the last time February 14th rolled around. (That connection didn’t go so well…) This year was going to be different though. He was with Mei, and he was crazy in love with her like he’d never been crazy about anyone else. They had been dating for a few months now, taking their time to become truly comfortable in their relationship before taking the next step forward as far as intimacy. Mei had expressed wanting her first time to be special, so they’d planned to wait for the most romantic day of the year and have the perfect classic date leading up to that night. Picking her up for dinner at a nice restaurant, flowers and chocolate strawberries and candles—and when he took her back to his new apartment afterwards, his roommate was scheduled to spend the night elsewhere.
Not wanting his girlfriend to think he had only one thing on his mind (though it was definitely on his mind all day) Slightly didn’t lead Mei straight to the bedroom when they got home, instead settling into the living room where they could relax and talk. He rested a hand on her leg as they cuddled, tracing absent-minded patterns on her skin. “So…how are you feeling?” he eventually asked with respectful indirectness, instead of getting straight to the point of whether she wanted to get it on or not. If she changed her mind about being ready tonight, that would be okay. As much as he wanted her, he wanted her to feel safe and comfortable first and foremost. He had waited so long just to find the love of his life; he could wait as long as she needed to make love to her.
