It was pretty late, late enough that Mei had been certain that everyone should have been asleep. She had traveled these halls all the time this late and almost never encountered anyone.
But tonight she didn’t seem to be so lucky.
The one week she had forgotten to do laundry until she had but a short left, the one night she picked to handle this problem was the night she’d be caught while rounding the corner, almost bumping into Junkrat with her laundry basket.
“Ah- Junkr-Jamison!” The surprise was clear across her face, wondering how she didn’t hear the junker coming as he wasn’t exactly the most silent of people. “Sorry, sorry, sorry- What are you doing up this late? Go to bed!”
She seemed frazzled, was frazzled as she used her laundry basket to try and cover herself all the while attempting to side step away from this encounter and down the hall.
She had rather mixed feelings about the junker but right now she’d rather scurry away herself then risk bickering. That even if her shirt covered everything as it was even large for herself just the knowledge that that was all she had and someone fidning out was almost too much to accept.
So there she went, side stepping away as fast as she could while telling the junker that sleep was important and he should go do that, right now.
Jamison was often suspicious himself, so he knew strange behavior when he saw it. But what would Mei be hiding? Was there another side to this sweet little snowflake that he didn’t know about? Eyes scanned her every move. From his height, he had no idea she only had on a shirt, so that hadn’t crossed his mind.
“Ah could ask you... the same thing,” he said in his best detective-I’m-totally-onto-you voice. When she took a step away, he closed the gap and took a step as well. “Wot ya’ got in that basket there? Sure it looks like clothes but, ya’ could be hidin’ anythin’ in there...”
Leaning down, he took a closer look at the basket. “Ya’ got some good alcohol in here, ah bet?” Serious face and accusatory demeanor turned into a big smile. “Wanna’ share it with me? Pleeeease? Ah’ll fix Snowball whenever it acts up and ah’ll even add in some new features for ya’ no problem, cutiepie!” If it wasn’t alcohol in there, it had to be something good she was sneaking in. Maybe she took some food from the main kitchen. The more he thought about it, the hungrier and thirstier he got.
