Jesse was most certainly right about Mei being no solider, and the amount of times she had heard that from Morrison, well geezy peezy. She was barely ever assigned to any mission on her own that may involve fighting and even worse, she did have tendencies to freeze up in battle when things got too chaotic. “Thank you” Mei spoke as she looked into her own cup which was now almost as white as milk. There was almost nothing in there resembling coffee anymore, just how she kinda liked it. As much as someone could who didn’t like coffee. As she took a slow test sip she watched McCree, almost not catching how he hissed. She had forgotten about his missing arm, forgot even more about phantom pains even being a thing and with her mind fogged in lack of sleep she simply looked confused. “If I may ask, borrow your time for a moment…What do you do when you are up at these odd hours of the night?” She decided not to ask about the hiss, for now, and instead wondered what he did hoping that maybe it was something that could help her as well.
“Instead of a response, the man merely nods at her thanks, his black cup of coffee still searing hot with each sip he took. It actually felt nice to chat idly, McCree more than happy to welcome the distraction from his dreams. If the man can’t sleep, he might as well stay awake in some decent company.
“What I do?” Jesse echoes her question, still processing it in his mind before he lets out a soft sound, “Ah. Well, uh... I try ‘n find somethin’ t’do with my hands.”
Usually that meant the practice range--Peacekeeper heavy in his hand as he practiced on the same practice bots all the way back from Blackwatch, the routine so embedded in him he barely thought about it. Tonight on the other hand, well, his body felt too disconnected from his head.
“Actually considered whittlin’ a bit.” McCree settles on his answer, not too far from the truth, “Ever learn how to do that?”
