As some of you may know, I’m currently writing a fic with @peeterparkr and @marvelousxtsh . It’s called Pretty Woman and is posted on Nancy’s blog. I’m very proud of the work the girls and I have made, and that’s why I’m extremely pissed off.
Several times Nancy and I received hate about our accounts, our previous collab, even our friendship (yes, people sending hate just because we’ve been lucky enough to find a friend running a fan account, lol). And I’ve always taken it humorously because at some point the fact people waists their time throwing shade to a complete stranger -me or Nance- flatters me. But I’ve had enough.
The thing is, Pretty Woman started a bit darker than Nancy’s previous works. It contains mature content and themes as controverted as VIP prostitution, a corrupt hypocrite politician, A FUCKING ARRANGED MARRIAGE EVERYONE’S IS SLEEPING ON, sexual assault, and the count goes on. I completely understand those are delicate subjects that would trigger a lot of people. So, even when I think (PERSONALLY, IT’S MY OPINION, don’t associate my mates with this) we haven’t gone full dark, I was very insistent to warn the readers about the content of our writing. And there’s not smut, no one dies, no one is raped, no one asks his sexual partner to spit in their mouths (I’m not kink shaming, but seriously, I haven’t read y’all shading BDSM smut writers and you made such a scandal out of our work).
This fic is totally not an ode to prostitution.
This fic is totally not romanticising it.
This fic is totally not encouraging prostitution.
Why am I so mad about the whole drama people started with Pretty Woman:
Because people are telling Nancy what she should/shouldn’t write about.
Because people are criticising the fic without even reading it.
Because people are accusing us to encourage prostitution, clearly without reading the damn fic.
Because I’m tired of people trying to make us change the course of the story.
Because they’re threatening Nancy with unfollowing her.
Because people are telling us it is bad to talk about some delicate themes but we’re sure they never attack accounts that write explicit smut or the mob! Tom AU (totally valid topics, in my opinion).
Because people who haven’t read the fic are accusing us to create a false perception of Tom’s personality when THIS IS FUCKING FAN FICTION AND NONE OF US -sadly- REALLY KNOW HOW TOM HOLLAND’S PERSONALITY IS BECAUSE -sadly- WE DON’T KNOW HIM AT ALL.
Because we can write about whatever the fuck we want.
Because we put the warnings for a fucking reason.
Because if you don’t like a fic, (or you are sensitive towards some topics and they’re anticipated to you in the warnings) you don’t read it, but you SHOULD NOT SEND HATE TO THE AUTHORS BECAUSE THEY MASHED THEIR BRAINS TO POST THE FUCKING SHIT, be thoughtful, for god’s sake.
I won’t keep ranting because is really late and I should be sleeping, but let me tell you something you anonymous garbage: I’ll write whatever the fuck I want, and it’s none of your business.
And yes, my English is shit.
Sometimes when I read people referencing to “I can’t help falling in love with you” in a fic or just saying it is THEIR song I can’t help feeling THE cringe. But as soon as I hear the song I turn into a crying baby. So who understands you unstable bitchhh!?!?!?
