Hmmm how has Ian used his EMT skills in the last several months? Now that Vee has moved, Ian's the new neighbourhood ghetto nurse. Even if he's in the west side, he's the family nurse, and he's over back Southside often enough that maybe some old neighbours will ask for help when they need it? Maybe some of the westside neighbours find out he's got medical training? What are your thoughts, Mel?
yes yes yes the gallaghers always call ian before rushing off to urgent care, sometimes he can spare them a trip and a costly bill! they trust him so much. and ian loves getting to use his skills and knowledge to help his family. sometimes i think it must make him a little sad, but he’d rather help than pretend he doesn’t know this stuff anymore. ian’s there when the kids bust up their knees playing, or when carl burns himself learning to cook his own meals, or when tami’s feeling shaky from morning sickness 🥺 it’s important to him to express his love this way!!!!
and the neighborhood certainly knows they can count on ian. he’ll post up at the gallagher house on a saturday afternoon, and sure enough southsiders will turn up asking him to take a look at something. ian likes being needed, he likes giving back. and maybe the new neighbors will pop by so ian can tell them if they need to go to the doctor - i feel like they’d be less worried about shelling out for a copay 😅 but they like ian and they get a kick out of his bedside manner.
but mostly i think he’s using those skills for mickey and himself. ian is a clumsy motherfucker, he’s probably patching himself up more than anyone else 😭 and taking care of mickey is his top priority, so he keeps his first aid kit fully stocked! he’s ready to jump into action if mickey so much as breaks a nail 😌
