so i’m at a work conference at this four-star oceanside resort right. and after a full day of programming i meet some coworkers at the jacuzzi. we chill and end up talking to some older ladies who give us free fruit and chips. we rail against AI with one of them, who’s an english professor. one of my coworkers does a shot of tequila with the other one, a travel agent. we’re discussing dream travel destinations when the travel agent is trying to recall the name of a famous pilgrimage in spain, and i, with my special interest in medieval history, say “santiago de compostela?” and they all look at me agog and in awe of my knowledge. they ask how i know this. bashfully i respond “im kind of into medieval pilgrimages,” and everyone says how cool i am. incredible evening, 10/10
