melancholicking replied to your post: Do you have a kidnapping problem?
Excuse me? Is this supposed to be my son’s friend?!
Clears throat. “And by ‘healthy amount’ I of course meant zero.”
@melancholicking liked for a starter!
"I'm sorry for my actions. I didn't realize I was in front of royalty." It wasn’t every day she was in the presence of a king, but still it was a bit awkward for her to behave appropriately in front of them, especially when old habits do tend to die hard. The woman placed her hands onto her hips, trying to think of a way to make this a bit less awkward for her if not both of them.
Closed starter.
For as long as he could remember, his only purpose had been to serve. He was a weapon. He wasn’t supposed to think or feel, he was supposed to strike in the direction his masters pointed him in and that was exactly what he did.
His earliest memory was from when he was eight and Noctis had just turned sixteen, leaving a huge chunk of his childhood unaccounted for. The Chancellor had told him some things. Told him his name was Noctis, that he was an orphan who had been taken in by the empire upon showing promise with a specific kind of magic known only to a few. There had been an accident, traumatic enough to cause the then young boy to disassociate from the situation and in turn, himself.
He had no reason to question the man. No reason to know that the ‘accident’ he spoke of was really the mental and physical abuse that he had endured at the Empire’s hands after they took him from his father in Tenebrae.
He had stopped asking questions pretty soon. It just made him confused – angry even, that he couldn’t remember anything from that period of time and trying to remember made his head hurt.
So he did what he was told. It was easier like that.
His current objective was of the utmost importance as Ardyn kept telling him. He was to terminate one Regis Lucis Caelum. The King of Lucis. Noctis knew that there would be consequences if he failed. There always were and those assignments had never been as important as this one.
He would complete the mission or he would prepare himself for a world of pain.
Getting into the palace had been relatively easy. They had an inside source, apparently, though Noctis wasn’t privy to the information of who it was. He had been provided with the blueprints of the building, along with a list of guard placements and had managed to make it into the King’s chambers without being seen.
The man was asleep. Perfect.
He summoned a knife and crept forward, preparing to make a quick, clean kill.
One of the floorboards creaked as he stepped forward.

The King sighed as he finally stood up from where he was previously kneeling. He stared some more time at the grave, even when he had promised himself to only remain for five minutes to leave the roses and then go back to the palace. But, as always, he had remained at her grave, not being able to turn around.
At least, until he felt someone else’s presence, which had him turning in only some seconds.
“Noctis?” He asked as his eyes landed on his boy “What are you doing here?”
It had been so many years since his mother died, a blur of her existence imprinted upon his memory. But the blur was beginning to blur more. As the years went by, Noctis started being unable to recall her voice and now... now he was scared of completely forgetting her face.
He knew where her grave was, never guessed his dad would be there though. So to round the corner and find his father standing in front of the memorial was... a bit of a shock to be honest. Regis wasn’t supposed to know he still occasionally visited.
“Uh... hi, dad.” He paused awkwardly. “I had some free time so I kinda just... wanted to visit.”

a soft sigh left her lips for a moment. Cid was in the other room and she ended up taking care of him. This was the king. Now she couldn’t help but walk over with a glass of water and held it out for him. a small sigh left her lips again.
“I’m sorry to say this -- but you truly look like it,” she commented with a frown on her lips. “--- though, Paw-paw has said you looked worst,” she said lightly and looked to the side. “ -- Well I spoke to the boys early today, but we haven’t told them ya’ here. He’s safe with the people you left him with, so no need to worry about him --- worry about yourself, Sir.”

“Do you want whipped cream on it?” He asked making his way over to the kitchen to make them hot chocolate.

Royal Duties ( Sidethread )
@melancholicking " ...Papa...do I have to attend? " Half-hiding around the corner of one of the royal estate's door frames, the young prince seemed apprehensive. Calor Penna Caelum had taken after his father in appearance-- dark chocolate hair, fair skin, thoughtful demeanor. Unfortunately, however bright his hazel eyes may have been, they were sightless; the Blood of Kings had been too much of a burden on his body. In one hand he held a ornate walking cane-- in the other his little fingers tightened around his father’s sleeve. Outside, a small gathering of the castle’s guard, workers, and close family friends awaited. Today was to be the day they got to meet the child who’d they’d looked after from a distance up until now-- for his own safety. Clearly, Calor was having some second thoughts. Though blind, the youth’s gaze shifted upward toward the King, seeking guidance. “ I...I know it’s my duty...to greet our people. But...what if they think I’m weak? Or...they don’t like me once they see me? “
