KOI’S POKEMON DOKIMON AU
Natsuki: Of Course, a runaway from home who specializes in Fairy-types and WINNING POKEMON BATTLES. She is already well on her way to her fourth regional badge by the time she bumps into Yuri (or more accurately is bumped into by a fleeing Yuri) and kicks off the main events and by the end of it is gearing up to be the GOSH DARN CHAMPION. She is really, REALLY good at rearing Pokemon to be the Very Best They Ever Was, which may be due to the run-in with Mew she had as a young child... or not. As far as she knows, Mew blessed her and all that happened was her hair turned pink. Still absolutely rad! Her partner is a Sylveon who is, at all times, the coolest dude in the room. Her endgame team is: - Sylveon - Azumarill - Granbull - Clefable (captured during story as Clefairy) - Kirlia - MimikyuYuri: ... also, uh, kind of escaping her home, but for different reasons than Natsuki. Yuri is a vastly powerful psychic, which is something she hides for about half to three-quarters of the main adventure BECAUSE? REALLY? OF COURSE SHE DOES. She’s very interested in Psychic and Ghost types, though her only Pokemon (and indeed lifelong friend) she has at the start of her journey is an Absol from her parents’ estate, which took upon itself to be the companion of the poor sobbing child with chronic, wall-destroying migraines. Since Dark-types absorb psychic energy (IN MY HCS AT LEAST DFHDSK) they make for a good pair! Absol has also been known to Mega Evolve, but whether it’s from a desire to protect its partner or just being around this BUCKET of raw magic energy, absolutely no one knows. Yuri’s endgame team is: - Absol - Espeon (given during story as Eevee) - Alolan Raichu (captured during story as Pikachu) - Zoroark
Sayori: Sayori is 25% dead. 25% of her soul is not there in her body. It is gone. It was burned off by a Litwick when she was seven years old, as she was wandering around trying to find said candlemon in a haunted mansion on a dare and let it be KNOWN that the only reason she’s (75%) alive today is because a Phantump saved her butt. Got that? Awesome. She’s a walking ghost motel! Ghost Pokemon just hang out in her body, all the time, chillin’ in that 25% gap, and she is completely okay with this. She’s kind of like the local Ghostbusters agency before she runs into Natsuki and Yuri and decides, hey, a regional journey sounds HELLA! Slightly more irreverent about death than the average human being, maybe owing to playing with too many Gengar as a child. Her partner is an Alolan Marowak, which didn’t actually evolve anywhere in the vicinity of Alola; she’s just THAT ghost-filled. He likes to pop out of her torso at inopportune times, usually juuuuust when people are taking a closer look at that kick-butt Alolan Marowak design on the front. But then again, so do all of her buddies. Her endgame team is: - Alolan Marowak - Gengar (evolved from a Haunter; Sayori falling ill as a young teen accurately simulated the distress needed to trigger a trade-based evolution) - Dusknoir (not exactly her Pokemon; an emissary of the spirit world come to keep an eye on this punk human that keeps passing through to get to Popsichu’s Pokemon McDonalds faster) - Phantump (the one that saved her!) - Drifloon - Yamask
Monika: She’s really out of this world! No, like, really, literally she’s an alien. And not even a normal alien; she’s a Faller alien. This poor kid was not only planetarily-displaced, she was universally-displaced, and on top of all that an amnesiac that spends 65% of the main story just trying to get her similarly-lost little buddy Elgyem back to their home because that seems simpler than trying to figure out who SHE is, with naught but a name-tag and a sketchbook full of weird Pokemon to her name! The other three run into her during a trip to see a fallen Moon Stone, during which she ropes everyone into helping the Clefairy gear up for their festival and which Natsuki is the only one who questions why this girl with a literal alien tagalong can understand what a Pokemon is trying to communicate like that. (Natsuki often fills the One Sane Girl trope and we all applaud her for it.) Monika is definitely here to drive the found family message home, but her and Sayori’s shenanigans help out with a LOT of sidequests. Her endgame team is: - Elgyem (they do find Elgyem’s family, but Elgyem decides they’d rather stay with Monika than leave the whole planet again! there’s a lot of tears involved from all parties im not gonna lie) - Wynaut (hatched from a gifted egg) - Shuckle (found under a rock. likes to play backpack) - Unown F (found sticking to Monika’s back and just... hehe... STICKS AROUND after everyone helps out its friends) - Poipole (released from a malfunctioning Beast Ball in Monika’s bag; was initially captured by her during her brief stint in Ultra Space) - Porygon2 (Beta Lion Forme, released from a malfunctioning Pokeball in Monika’s bag; swiped from the laboratory Monika had been held in on her universe’s version of the planet)
