I’ve tip-toed through darkness and still saw shadows.

Rebellious angels love exhausting the meek.

Still I climbed to a wind brushed plateau,

with hardly enough wind in my lungs left to speak.

I pressed my head on dry earth just to pray for you.

I risked the wrath of a curse just to stay with you.

Late night ventures from metro to sticks.

Falsetto whispers gave praise for the licks.

Eyes still engraved with your mahogany image.

Warm like the oil in your sautéed spinach.

Hopes and fantasies lingered for years,

only to plunge into screamed words and tears.

Who doused the fire?

Which one’s to blame for the loss of desire?

Which one relinquished their seat on a throne, for the sake of some antics and shit on their phone?

How to proclaim a relationship’s dead, when I still think of you in another girl’s bed?

Regardless of who did what, we still split.

In the dark I see shadows of a girl who ain’t shit.
