My first retwist & haircut of the pandemic. I'm back in the game! Extra shout-out to my OG loctician @locs_by_b for the much needed scalp scrub & deep condition before I got my hair done. Where I am in life
Hello world. I know there’s plenty of us who turn to social media as our way to be heard and though I love to write things down, I get so sick of running out of pages. So here I am--My name is Imani, I go by Rae. I’m 28 years old with no kids and a career as an active duty service member. I’m creating this blog because I feel like at times my life can be preeetty interesting, and I want to jot things down. I am currently at my 3rd assignment in my career, and when I say this whole military experience turned my life upside down, I couldn’t even exaggerate that if I wanted to. I started this journey just wanting to get out of Delaware (My mom, Dad and I moved up there when I was a senior in High School from NC.) which I DID NOT want to go there in the first place. I thought I would be able to start fresh and make a lot of friends. HA! I was there for 4 years and it was 4 years too long. After joining the Air Force I went to Florida, Germany and now Missouri. I have a total of 7 years and a loving 3 year old dog under my belt. I must say I’ve learned a lot about myself and have literally been to hell and back in one piece. I’ve had some great times and experiences and also so extremely crappy times, but all and all I’ve come to terms with the fact that I like who I am and military or not, that’s not gonna change. I see it all the time. People join, start to switch up and lose themselves in their job or forget that there is a such thing as separation from work and personal life. I too had to learn that the hard way. My job isn’t as stressful as others, however, being active duty tends to reign priority in my decision making even when I don’t want it to. I’ve finally found a relationship that is actually worth building, and life is pretty stable for the most part. Hopefully as I continue to share my story people will feel inspired or at least feel like they’re not alone.
xoxo
