After watching both Fionapollo's video, and quinnamon's video on the topic, I decided to actually read the infamous Boyfriends Webtoon for myself, and honestly? I love it. It's just pure fluff, the artstyle is really pleasing, and the story isn't complicated, I don't see what's wrong with it! Haven't finished it yet, it'll probably take me a few days (Will probably finish season 1 by tomorrow). So yeah, do expect some posts about it
Big respect to anyone who uses Vocaloid and its alternatives (especially SynthV), especially if you're making them talk/sing in a language they weren't meant to
I'm using the SynthV free trial for a school project and gosh it's hard TT but I love hearing my OCs become real trough them ❤️❤️❤️❤️ here are the voicebanks I use (and their parameters)
Rainea
I use Gumi for her voice! I put the soft parameter to 25% and the vivid to 15% and the breathiness is at 0.200
Daxoril/Daxo
I use Genbu for their voice! The breathiness parameter is at 0.240 and the gender parameter is somewhere between -0.375 and 0 (the closest I got to 0 so far has been -0.265), since they change their voice a lot, but I do have a general idea of what I want them to sound, I allow myself to mess with it a bit! And their pitch is -9 cents
Keya
I use Hibiki Koto for her voice! I put her Cute vocal mode at 50%, and her vivid at 15%! The breathiness setting is at 0.130
Steve original art linked in the picture
I use Hayden for him! For the voice mode, he's at 15% clear, 20% falsetto and 15% soft he has 0.165 breathiness and 0.035 gender!
Mugnerlig original art linked in the picture
I use Kevin for him! His vocal modes are 50% belt and 20% solid, he has 0.145 breathiness and 0.175 gender!
I plan on using Otomatchi Una's "Boyish" voice mode for Lila and Elanore Forte for Lavi!
You know, sometimes I feel like my time of being a passive member of the French Undertale community was actually just the training grounds for fandom. Cause Undertale introduced me to so many things. Comic dubs, fansongs, the fact that multiverse stories wasn't just something I was making up for myself (also know as AUs. Fun fact, when watching "[Character] AU themes" videos, I used to think it meant "[Character] at the theme"), selfcest (through Sans), and a setlist of songs I had learned by heart and sung on my way to school a lot (huge shoutout to Voyage au centre de la toile on YT for her French covers of Undertale (Zelda too, but this post isn't on that fandom). Oh, and long theory videos too! Although that might have overlapped with FNAF. I watched the same guy for both (Captain Hype) I really love Undertale.
Specifically USA (no, you guys aren't the whole continent of America) pop music
Even MORE specifically, I will mainly use Sabrina Carpenter as an example cause it's her music I've been enduring lately.
Before we start, this is all my personal opinion and if you're mad about it, that's alright, but don't tell me, just scroll past that. Also, I don't actually really know much about music theory, so, take my words with a graint of salt
So, without further ado, let's get into it
Part 1- Why do I personally dislike Sabrina Carpenter's music (and USA pop music in general)?
Like, aside from sibling pettiness of "I hate it cause my sibling likes it"? Well, it's because all the songs feels same-y. Now, you might know that I am a Deco*27 fan and will call me a hypocrite cause "All of Deco's songs sounds the same too", and let me say that although you're technically not wrong, you're definitely not right.
Let's look at Monitoring for example. The song starts with knocking and little sounds like a "pop", a phone buzzing and other stuff. The voice is "muffled", and there's a bunch of sounds effect. Then it picks up, a few more sounds get added, and you can hear the voice clearly, building up to the chorus. Then it hits "MWAH!" (I swear it's one of the most satisfying sound I heard Miku say), the instrumental is louder, like it pops at you. Then we go for a whole different vibe with the voice getting kind of distorted. Anyway, I won't go over the whole song, go take a listen for yourself, but as you can see, those are all very different parts in a few verse only.
Now let's take a look at a Sabrina Carpenter song to compare. To be fair, since I picked Deco's most recent song, I'll take the most recent song I can find... I forgot musicians usually drops the whole album... So, imma go with a song I actually hate because of how much I heard it- Espresso
I cannot do this for the whole 3:20 minutes of the clip, but just, let's go part by part a bit. Okay, the intro takes time to pick up, but it stays the same throughout without any vocals. Although the music itself has that muffled sound that gets clearer when the song actually starts. Then we get introduced straight into the chorus with no actual buildup, which doesn't make it hit as hard as in Monitoring. The vocals stays with that "soft" tone, which isn't a bad thing to keep the same vocals throughout if you want the instrumental to shine, but the instrumental pretty much stays the same with only minor modifications and a few emphasis effects added on certain parts. Then when the chorus hits again, sure there's an harmony in the voice, but the music does not change. You see what I'm getting at?
While in monitoring, the music changed constantly, never staying the same for a single part, in Espresso, it has the same base throughout, and sometimes adds little spikes that blends in with the rest. And the vocals in monitoring are much more expressive (a bit ironic considering it's not a human who sings. Love Deco's new tuning style he got for the past few songs btw)
You know what? I learned recently that looking at me was actually a Sabrina Carpenter song all along, so let's compare it with please please please, my second most disliked song of her.
Looking at me first. The intro with sax (trumpet?) is already really strong, and the vocalizations is a good way to get into it. Then the instrumental keeps the same base, but the voice is constantly fluctuating, so it works, since the basic instrumental lets the vocal shine. Then there's something new for the pre-chorus, there's less instruments, and actual buildup, and the voice change as well. And then the chorus HITS with the instrumental changing and picking up, with new stuff added. The voice stays less fluctuating, but it lets the instrumental shine. Then we get into the second verse, which is the same concept as the first. Anyway, all very different vibes still.
Now... onto please please please. Okay, I have to admit, it's actually not that bad, but still. The intro starts off pretty good, and then the vocals enter while the instrumental leaves it space. While the vocals are more interesting than in Espresso, they're still pretty much in the same tone. No pre-chorus, and nothing that makes the chorus HIT like in looking at me. All there is is some harmony, but it's not much. Although they did try by adding the thing that was in the intro. Then the vocals gets a bit more interesting with the "heartbreak is one thing, my ego's another" line, but generally, it still feels all same-y throughout the whole song with no real change to the instrumental.
Part 2- I forgot this was a multiple parts posts and don't actually have anything to add, so this is more like a conclusion
Basically, if we look at all those analysis, I don't like Sabrina Carpenter's music (with some exceptions) cause of the lack of variation in the instrumental. And it's the problem with most pop songs too! The instrumental and thr vocals both stays the same, and there's no real interesting variation of either. (Although no, I don't like Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo even though it has that variation, but that's partially cause it's been overplayed)
And that was my rambling! Hope you got something out of it, and if you didn't, you at least got to know a little more about me!
Wanna look inside my brain? Here is a general look at the thoughts that are rotating in my mind!
Disclaimer/Warning: This post contains spoilers for Chapter 3&4 of Deltarune
Songs playing on loop in my mind rn: Burning eyes from Deltarune chapter 3, Raise up your bats from Deltarune chapter 3, Heaven says for some reason, and now add the "Can you get joy" song to the list and Hyperlink Blocked by Stupendium too now. Oh and Hammer of justice from Deltarune chapter 4
My main thoughts outside of what I'm writing down here (this is where the spoilers come in): Do I have to get the crystal thingy? No, I don't even have the other shadow crystals! Do I want it? Yes!! Plus, we have beef with the Shadow Mantle now, it keeps mocking me while sending its friends. Also, isn't it wild that we allow ourselves to kill the monsters here just because it's a game inside a game in the Dark World? What of those monsters are in a deeper layer? And what about mini Susie and mini Ralsei? Are actual Susie and Ralsei alright? I guess the only way to find out is to go see it, but if I di that right after my death, I won't be able to get the crystal. Should I make another save? Kris did look away as I killed mini Susie and Ralsei. On another note, WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE ATTACKS GERSON?! How do you expect me to dodge that TT Plus, it's either I Rude Buster or I heal cause I'm not actually that good at it. And what the hell are those arrows?! I mean, they're really cool and I love the green soul mechanic back, bit how can I do a turn, should I try switching to the joystick instead of the D-pad or whatever it's called?? Also, Artfight really is coming!!! And Alien stage in 5 days too!! There are so many cool things from the near future... And also scary, but let's not go there...
Anyway, yeah, those are my unfiltered, uncensored thoughts. Or my rambles if you prefer.
Okay, so, I'm not religious, I don't really believe in any Gods, but I love seeing different cultures and traditions, and that also includes different religions!
We ised to have a class where we would talk partially about ethics and values (is that the English word for valeurs?) and other stuff related like our fundamental rights, and partially about different religions, their origins and their ways of doing things. Now, I have to admit, that class was kinda boring until last year, but I think that's not completely the class's fault, but also partially the teacher's fault (look, I love that teacher, but we learned about mainly one religion, Christianity and its branches). Our teacher last year really did a deep dive into each of the religions we talked about and it was genuinely super interesting. Anyways, long story short, this class got replaced.
Now, the class we have, which is basically a mix of like, politics, modern day history (as in, this century), a sprinkle of sex education, and some stuff about how the system works, the thing is, for most of these, we already have a class for it. Yeah sure, it completes what we learned and add important information, but we now mainly focus on our little part of the world.
Look, I don't mind nationalism (hopefully that's the English word), and teaching us more about our country, but I think that in a multicultural setting, it is still really important to learn about the other stuff from around the world! And I love learning about it! Cultures are beautiful! Religions are beautiful! And I will admit I am ignorant on a lot of things! But that's why I love learning about them!
I lost the point of this post, but if anyone wanna reblog and tell me their favorite part of their culture, feel free to do so!
You know, sometimes I remember a childhood show, but the thing is little me did not really know English, so, they watched her shows in French, and then I see the fandom for it and it's all in English, and I'm seriously considering watching those things again but in their OG language
